***Matrox Parhelia....It's Coming......

Can NE1 say vaporware? They are so far out of the loop right now in the high-end graphics market that I doubt if a naked Catherine Zeta-Jones dropped out of the sky that they would know what to do with her.
 
all i can say is.. till it's in my system running.. i would have to agree... but why dont matrox do a little pic preview so I can drool..

I'd love it if it was true, considdering I now have a monitor that could really use Matrox class 2D quality.

But, until I see it, it's vapor to me.

I've been reading that page for the past 3 years and there has never been anything blantantly false or misleading.

Who cares if it turns out to be a rumor...
Worst case scenario: the card turns out to be nothing but a rumor, you proceed to buy whatever Nvidia or ATI has to offer
Best case scenario: the rumors are true, you can either A) buy the fastest card on the market B) enjoy the price reductions on the card that you were going to buy

3. It is fast. It will have a new memory design, different from all current video cards. Memory speed will be faster than the current fastest (a GeForce4). Faster by a huge margin of victory.

No kidding. I remember we had few "individuals" a while back claiming the same about Bitboy card. "Faster than 3 GeForce 3", "just wait and see" "already in silicon, will be reviewed in two weeks" etc etc etc....we heard all this before 😉

Not the webpage, but they do post rumors from their forums. G800, and a few other that have been nothing more than a bunch of hogwash
 
Would be great if it was true but I'm sure we've all heard enough of the once prophesised G800 to be somewhat dubious.
The rumours listed on that site right now a pretty vague as it is.

I prefer to remain pessimistic, if it does come out I can then be pleasantly surprised.
I'd love a decent performance gaming card with Matrox's 2D, as long as the drivers were there to back it up... drivers have occasionally bit a bit touchy upon initial launch of Matrox's new cards.

I would love to eat my words on this one, since I'd be getting the G800 if it's as good as it sounds (despite how vague it is).
 
Everybody knows how good Matrox are in the 2D department,however it will be interesting when or if this card is ever released,Rand said it best

I want to see how good the drivers are in gaming that`s one of the top factors I look for in buying a new card,so far Nvidia drivers have been 100% stable for me in gaming & no Nvidia loop error 🙂 .

I do hope it does come out since at the moment it`s a two horse race between ATI and Nvidia,we need more competition in the 3D gaming field.

Yes, but Anand also doesnt make them front page headlines. Rumors are rumors, not to be believed until they are facts. The FACT is the g800 was a rumor, and people believed it. A sucker is born every minute
 
i would like a competitive matrox offering in the 3D gaming market. would be nice. kyro 3 coming out soon would be nice too.
 
If/(when) it's true, I'll consider it.

If not, no big deal. I still have my G450 for my workstation.

I'll just grab a Ti4200 for the Gaming Rig.

I think we'll all believe in a killer 3D card from Matrox when they release it (in stores, as in when I place my order, it'll be shipped from a reputable vendor with tracking information from FedEx). I'll believe it when this incredible bandwidth shows its power in things that I actually use: Quake3, Unreal Tournament, etc.

I have an open mind to competition, so when are they going to show this card off? This year, next year? How about after Duke4 or Team Fortress2 gets released?

Well the G800 wasnt wholly a rumour as it was being designed at one point, and was even listed in their drivers at one point in time. It was eventually canceled though, and a few choice bits of the initial G800 core filtered into what's now known as the G550.

Somehow I doubt their going to tell just anyone that walks in their front door about an unannounced graphics core.
Especially since Matrox has in the past been extremely quiet about future graphics cores.

They didn't, nowhere has Matrox so much as hinted there could be a such thing as the Parhelia. Others may insinuate that it exists but Matrox themselves have not said a single word about it.
That's a VERY far step from Bitboys which officially announced their vaporware.
