Matrox G400 2nd Display Users

I just installed a used Matrox G400 MAX, then enabled dual head, tweaked the settings so that both monitors are at 1280 x 1024 at 32 bit color. But, the second monitor always looks to have its color washed out. Even if I switch the cables, the second channel is washed out. Focus is OK, but clearly the color temperature and signal are different, in spite of my manual corrections. Although the first monitor is using the adapter at 360 RAMDAC, the second is on 135 RAMDAC. Is this right?
Is this washed out color normal for the second display? Is my card defective or can this second monitor path be "fixed"? (I see that the second display RAMDAC for a G450 is only 230MHz; so I assume that 135MHz is correct for the G400 MAX). But, this degradation in second monitor performance is a problem.
 
if they're not the exact same monitor, try switching monitors and see if the normally "good" monitor becomes washed out when it becomes the secondary monitor.
