That seems to be the case. Maybe the mods are offline :)

Just to clarify things for dumb people, there are no VHS or DVD screeners out yet of this movie. Although there are some good SVCD telesyncs ;)

***EVEN HOTTER***

The Thai family half a block south just before the alley will be running a special on this DVD starting on Saturday for $14.95 (I'm trying to get early copies of their newspaper ad - stay tuned). You'll be able to doa PM with the Nigerian's 110% pricematch guarantee to get this thing for $13.43! I'd recommend you buy from the Nigerian now, and then do a return/rebuy on Saturday.

You might even be able to get him to accept competitor's coupons (you know where to look for those), but that's totally a YMMV.

This deal is smokin'!

sigh...this is one reason one i think the hot deals forum is dying. This guy is a Junior member and obviously wanted to contribute but didn't know these are bootleg DVD's. So we get all over this thread with our "witty" remarks. Now I know why the other deal sites have grown. A lot of people just leave and don't come back because of the rudeness. What a shame!!! :disgust:

Dude, there's no way that the original poster thought they were legitimate DVDs.

(1) the movie's been in theaters for less than 2 weeks.
(2) he refers to the guy's shop as "a sheet on the sidewalk"
and
(3) notes that the "shop" was only "open for business" until "a cop came around"

There are lots of reasons that the Hot Deals forum here might be "dying" as you call it. But the replies to this guy's post is not one of those reasons.

Score for some Nigerian.

Did he appeal to you on the basis that his father is a high ranking Nigerian official who managed to save his fortune just before the government...blah, blah, blah...and they would like your help for which you will be paid handsomely. They just need a little money to grease palms and get the money out. You'll get 20% of the fortune!!!

Hurry dude, it seems like a legit business deal.

Maybe I'm too new here to know the difference, but I think this forum rocks! Do you really think it's dying?

I think this site could be helped if deals were categorized. I like the tech deals, but a bunch of junk like tickle-me-elmo and bootleg DVDs show up and it is hard to find the good ones.

is that camcorder quality?

Nope. A telesync is camcorder quality, a screener can be anything from an official VHS screener copy to a DVD screener copy. They're usually dubs made by the owners of the film that are sent out to be pre-screened by whoever (members of the Academy, special friends of the studio ceo, or even video distribution folks)

Actually, that's technically wrong.

Camcorder quality is the lowest quality. That's when someone pyshically sits in the theater with a camcorder set to record the screen.

A telesync involves hooking a video camera into the projector (who knew a projector had video out  ) and are generally better quality than a cam. Centropy is the best at the telesync game. Just watch their releases of X-2 & The Matrix Reloaded compaired to other people's for proof.

Lastly, a screener is the best quality of the early releases. They usually have some annoying messages popping up every now and then that you shouldn't be watching it, and a phone number to call to more or less turn yourself in. Yeah, like anyone does that......

At least he's smart enough to speak properly (for the most part).

Hey, it's all good though. You flame him, I flame you...right?

Got to love the Anandtech community...

I dunno... I'll need to look a streetsellerratings.com to see if this guy is "legit". Need to see if this guy has been "ripping" people off.

Do they hava stores in other state ?
I wanna get in the deal too.

For those of you that keep praising fw, why do you visit here anyway ?
Look at fw carefully before you open your yap.
Some users there are teaching people how to scam certain stores and the thread is not lock.
There are always new post about hot deals found at some stupid yahoo stores.
If those are hot deals, then we don't need it here.
