My sub has been dying for some time. By that I mean pops and such here and there, once a movie or so. But then I watched Matrix Reloaded and it did it all the time. My subwoofer crackled and popped more than a box of Rice Krispies

PS anyone have a good deal on sub?(Vipers yours is too expensive)

Velodyne has some good subs. Try Sunfire also. I personally have a Klipsch sub (RSW-10), love that thing.

Look for some Yamaha subs then, I think you can pick up a decent one for about $150. It would definitely be an improvement over what you have right now. If I ever give an advise, this is one that you "should" listen to: invest in a good sub, it will be a compliment to any speakers.

i got a kick ass velodyne sub at Circuit City, CT-150 i think , it only cost me $450 or something like that and it is awsome. crystal clear lows down to 21hz and highs up to 150Hz so the crossever is good.

i highly reccomend it

heh, my SVS passed with flying colors. Plenty scenes that shook my room, :). If you could, save up for one of those...

SVS subs are considered some of the best in the market bar none. HUGE BASS!

BTW, sounds like it could be an AC issue. Try a power condtioner/filter. IF that doesn't work, it could be your sub amp....or possible loose connection.........

I know KLH sucks, but they have decent 10" 100 watt subs at costco for $80. My non-audiophile ears cant even tell the difference between the KLH sub, and the DLS $100 wonder sub that they used to sell. My DLS actually blew up, unfortunately.

My Logitech z-640's can put out a good amount of bass. I got mine used on the forums for $40. :) Check Hot Deals, maybe you can snag a good set for around that price. Or eBay.

I saw it last night, not the most demanding movie. The Haunting has some serious bass in it. There's another movie that I can't recall that was bottoming out a few subs when played at reference level.
