The only part I didnt understand of the movie was when the archtech said Neo had to choose several people to go back and repopulate Zion. Whats this about how he is the one? He is just somesort of breeding mistake?

******SPOILER*******

Tabb, the Architect reveals to Neo that there have been 5 previous "Ones" before Neo. This can be interpreted to mean that the Oracle (its revealed that she herself is a program) has been leading Neo up to this point in the way that they (the Matrix) wanted him to. After this revelation, the Architect offers Neo the choice to go back to the source and repopulate Zion after its destroyed, or go back to Zion/Trinity and in the process destroy all of mankind.

Of course, thats just my opinion. I could be (and probably am) wrong on some points :p

Dude. Thanks for the heads-up. I only check Kurzweil once every month or two, so I hadn't seen this yet.

My favorite part was the snippet about Smith, and "purpose," because that part was a little lost on me. I didn't understand what Smith was talking about, but reading this really made it make sense.

I think the greatest part about this is it shows how skillfully the Wachowskis crafted the Matrix universe: Based on enough science so that plausible explanations could be created for nearly everything, yet vague enough to allow myriad interpretations which fuel interesting and intellectual debates which serve to strengthen our neural connections and make us all just a little bit smarter.

All the better for running the cold fusion program, I guess. ;-)
