Can you recommend any one game to try as good, and the most casually accessible?

Looking at the list reminds me I bought Gay Grigsby World at War when it came out 2006.

I could just get around to playing it.

I'd lean against the civil war.

The Titles I'm familiar with from either playing or buzz about the game around the site (not ranked):

- Distant Worlds: Universe (played)
Includes Distant Worlds, Return of the Shakturi, Legends, Shadows, and Universe expansion/wrap up (original plus four expansions).
Buy on their site and get direct download plus a Steam key

- Star Hammer The Vanguard Prophecy
3D Space game with positive user feedback.
Direct download or Steam

- War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition
World War II Pacific operations. Supposed to be a very complex in depth game - high realism/accuracy.
Been meaning to grab this one myself, just haven't had time yet.

- Larry Bond's Harpoon - Ultimate Edition
Naval based warfare, but there are land Bases as well.
From the site - "Harpoon- Ultimate Edition is the most powerful and complete modern naval warfare simulation on the market and a must have for any Harpoon fan!"
I played the original about 20 years back. That one primarily focused on the North Atlantic area (Cold War to full War).
There have been two or three newer versions since then, and it looks to have expanded battle areas to all over the world.
Negative is it has to run in 32bit compatibility mode, but still works fine on 64bit Systems.

Putting this one down as a possible alternative to Madden Football as there have been recent threads about missing Football games.

- Maximum-Football 2.0
American Football - there's a short video clip to show the graphics.

I know there are others I'm not familiar with, and there are also others they've put up for Steam availability, I just don't recall them right now.
