here is the problem -

-10(1/2)(.11(-11))

i don't want the answer, just what order to do it... can't remember

Do the parantheseis(sp?) first
then do the exponents
the multiply and divide, left to right
then add and subtract, left to right

are you asking what is the order of evaluation...It doesnt matter the reals are a field..so (ab)c=a(bc) for all a,b,c in R.

The guy is asking about order of operations and you are giving him group theory. It's like killing a fly with a nuke.

well it has a fraction but I suggest you replace 1/2 with .5 and then it is all multiplication. It has two negatives so you can remove both of them because a negative times a negative is a positive. i.e. -1 squared = 1. Technically the things inside the parentheses get down first.

Here's a hint, first you do multiplcation.

Here's one more hint. That whole problem is multiplication.

-10(1/2)(.11(-11))

-10(.5)(.11(-11))

then, do .11(-11) in the inner parentheses = -1.21

then just do it normally, left to right

-10(.5)(-1.21) = 6.05

POSITIVE 6.05, not negative (there are an even number of negative symbols in the original question)
