Math question - going from 0 to 1

Let me explain. If you go from 1 to 2 or 2 to 4, etc, that is called doubling. 3 to 9, 4 to 12, tripling (or trebling). And so on. But is there a special term to describe the discrete step from 0 to 1? I'm thinking about only non-negative integers here - 0, 1, 2, 3.... and am assuming the series begins with 0 and is simply looking to count the number of something.

I don't think there is a special term other than just simple "counting."

I wasn't really looking at it that way, I was simply looking at an integral change in a total number of something and whether is there a special term for when the count goes from 0 to 1.

I think all those series start at the number 1 as opposed to starting at zero. I don't think there is a step going from zero to 1.

The only other explanation I can think of is that each term exists independent of the previous term.

For instance, "doubling" is really just listing the powers of 2.

so 2^0 = 1
2^1 = 2
2^2 = 4

and you have your doubling.
