Math problem...

Ok REALLY need help on this one...

2<sq root>x</sq root> - <sq root>2x+1</sq root> = 1

The answer is apparently "4" but I dont know how to get to it.

ok, i'll rewrite it for u
2x^.5 - (2x+1)^.5 =1

1-(4x)^.5=(2x+1)^.5 subtraction

1-2(4x)^.5 + 4x=2x+1 square each side

-2(4x)^.5=-2x subtraction

2x^.5=x division

4x=x² square each side

x=0 and x=4 look at solutions

check solutions
0+1=1 when x=0...TRUE
4-3=1 when x=4.... TRUE

both x=0 and x=4 are the answers to this problem

NOW WHERE'S MY DAMMNED COOKIE 😛 lol

If i can't use imaginary numbers to solve it, let alone a matrix, then i can't help you.

Good luck on your quest for knowledge.

Well I figured it out on my own and I really can't follow what you are doing, but I did refresh every couple of minutes to see your progress 😛 :cookie:

^ means "to the", .5 is one half, and something to the one half (^.5) is just an easier way of writing sqr() or ^(1/2), or the square root of something. if you ask for more math help, us this notation and alt765, it makes reading a lot easier. alt765 is ²
