White Kansas official tells black woman he belongs to 'master race'

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — "A white county commissioner in northeast Kansas who told a black city planner that he belongs to "the master race" as he rejected her proposed development plan is coming under pressure from fellow commissioners to resign.

Leavenworth County Commissioner Louis Klemp cited the master race — the Nazi ideology of Aryan supremacy — at a board meeting Tuesday while responding to a presentation by Triveece Penelton and a colleague on road development options in Tonganoxie, just west of Kansas City.

"I don't want you to think I'm picking on you because we're part of the master race," Klemp told Penelton — claiming that the fact that both he and she had "gaps" in their teeth meant they were part of a master race. He then said he didn't like any of the land use options that she had presented to the commission."

After getting assaulted by a Trumper and getting told to get the fuck out of "his country" last month.. kinda have a daily reminder of it since my wife still has daily PTSD about it.

Really? The guy was making a joke that he and the girl were part of the master race of people with gaps in their teeth. Dummies then try and turn it around into a black vs white thing. If anyone watches the video, the context is clearly he was trying to make a joke, even if its a stupid joke.

So stupid.

So true. Everybody knows the joke about the master race being people with a gap in their teeth.

Don't have to. If you had watched the video you cold have seen out was a bad joke.

You would be real handy on a golf course.

RE topic: Master Race Guy has a history of things like this, it's the way he is and he's just fine with that.

Seemed like a very poor joke to me. That said, anyone even remotely involved in any sort of politics should know that jokes can't be made anymore.

What?

See the bolded, and see if you don't scratch your head in confusion. He is clearly retarded and/or senile beyond comprehension. Regardless of his murky motives, which logically would seem clearer than his words, raising this subject in such a manner warrants immedate removal from office. Further context reveals this isn't his first rodeo, continuing with his incomplete and nonsensical rambling.

What I see is a faulty attempt at quibbling with somebody you have history and about which it would be easy to infer could cause you to have a bone to pick. I see a perhaps unconscious need to argue rather than any rational basis for argument. The idea he was clearly trying to make a joke seems totally artificial rather than real. I also don't think you would see this even if I am right.

The "joke" defense is a common one for some people to use for offenses like this one. I noticed long ago that the people who excuse these actions as a poor joke are only looking for a way to excuse the behavior of someone that didn't offend them. They don't care what others think that are offended by this crap, all they care about is their perception of the incident. Everything they say afterward is based on that premise.

For these people, there's no walking a mile in the shoes of another before passing judgment. Just judgment.

This guy should not be in government, he does not sound like he can make good decisions for all Americans.

Dems, not "Dem's" you troll.

Pointed it out a while ago, he defended the shit out of using Dem's for plural.

He then went on to change it to Democrats only to change it back when I called him out on it to avoid admitting that he changed it because it was wrong. It's hilarious how thin skinned slow is.

Maybe they can come up with a final solution to this problem if he has a history of this.

Well, not jokes that involve references to Nazism. I'm sure there are other jokes that continue to be fine (though, yeah, the pool of acceptable material has probably gotten smaller over the years)

You are correct, sir. I missed that. However, any white official who serenely thinks it's ok to make a joke about the Master Race to a black woman petitioning for something before him, in any context, both doesn't belong in his position and has a huge blind spot about race. This guy has a history of making racially suspect comments in public. And that's just in public!

Finally, any American official who makes a joke about the Master Race in public, while in his official position, needs to step down.

Joke was dumb but if you watch the video it is clearly that.

I believe that, in context, the idea of it being a joke is beside the point.

What motivated a White man to speak of "master race" in front of a Black woman? That answer, IMO, is where offense is taken. Even if I were to believe he meant no harm or disrespect, his... detachment makes him unfit for office.

I think that's the point. I don't believe it was consciously malicious, and yet...if I had done what he had, I'd be agonizing over why the hell my mind went there in the first place in such a situation. It's not really an obvious reference to make.

Personally I don't think I'd be unforgiving of the guy _if_ he gave the impression he was seriously asking himself that question and being _genuinely_ apologetic. Doesn't sound as if he is, though.
