Master Cleanser Fast

Yes, that is correct I have not eaten in (6) days, today being my (7th). A couple weeks ago my g/f and I decided to do a cleansing fast for about 9 days. Her uncle, sister and her brother-in-law have all done it so we figured we would give it a try. Here is some info about it:

Anyways, I gotta say this has been both tougher and easier than I thought it would be. I was rather scared going into it because well, I am a smoker and a drinker and you can't do either when you are on this fast. So, I was giving up all my addictions at once for this fast.

The first day was Friday 6/25 and it wasn't that bad at the beginning. I was going through work just fine until about 1 when I started to get light headed. I hadn't prepared my dink (see first link for ingredients) so I bolted work at about 2 which is only an hour and a half before my usual time. I got home and made up the drink and chugged it. Towards the end of the day I really started to feel weird, almost drunk if you will. It was kind of the opposite of having an out of body experience. But anyways I had a pencil to bite down on and we made it through the night.

The second day Sat. 6/26 was a little better. I woke up around 10am feeling alright, I had taken a laxative tea the night before (also part of the cleanse) and I felt fine, not hungry at all. Well I did my business and made up another batch of drink and started the day. Luckily I have a decent book to occupy myself with (Tad Williams: Memory, Sorrow and Thorn). The cravings were pretty bad all day but I just drank the drink as much as I could. Later in the day I did a salt water oral enema. This was a quart of water with 2 tsp of sea salt. For anyone who has never done something like this all I have to say is that it was a weird experience. Also, if someone does want to do this, let me give you some advice, don't fart. I got that advise from my g/f's uncle and I soon understood the wisdom of those words. Spent the rest of the day watching movies and trying to put together a puzzle. Went to be at about 10.

The third day Sun. 6/27. Woke up and felt fine. But I have to say I have had the most bizarre dreams every night. I won't talk about them but they are crazy and vivid and kind of fun. I don't dream that often so 3 days in a row is kind of fun. Sunday wasn't really all that bad. I kept reading and drinking my drink. I did the salt water flush again and I will have to for the next few days.

We had to go to the store to pick up some more maple syrup and lemon/limes from the health food store. You wouldn't believe how much this syrup is! It was about 15 dollars for less than a pint. My g/f have set a date when to stop this madness and that is going to be the 3rd. But of course we don't really get to eat that day but we do get soup! On the fourth though we are going to get Mexican at this really great place. It's slogan is "no lard, no preservatives, no can openers." MMmmmm I am so excited. The rest of the day was ok but I did notice that I have started smelling kinda bad. I guess the toxins are coming out of my skin but hey at least they are coming out.

The forth day Mon. 6/28. I am doing alright today. Woke up as usual for a work day at 5:30 took a shower and got dressed. I made a half batch 12oz and pounded that then made up a new bottle and a little bottle with the mixed ingredients in it. I feel great today and haven't had any problems so far. The rest of the day went pretty well. I still miss food but my energy level is doing just fine.

The fifth day Tues 6/29. Still doing great. Woke up a little hungry but I just made a half batch of the drink and I was good to go. My girlfriend has started not liking the drink so she is going to give it another try today and if she can't do it then she is going to buy some green magic powder (that's just what it's called). We also decided that on Friday night we are going to start with broth. Then on Saturday we are going to have some potato chowder with some good sour dough bread. One thing about this fast is that you really start to realize how awesome food is. Also, I really want to eat more healthy from now on.

The sixth day Wed 6/30. Last night ended rather well I actually had quite a bit of energy. Woke up a little too early this morning but might as well get a jump on the day. I feel fine and I am really glad that I only have 3 days left. Putting on my pants today I did notice that there was more room in there than usual and I was able to go another notch on my belt. I don't know now much weight I have lost (didn't do the fast for weight loss) but it is kinda weird, my guess would be about 10lbs.

The seventh day Thurs 7/1. So close now! Today is actually going to be my last full day of fasting. Tomorrow night I am going to eat some soup. I know this is a little shorter than my goal but hey, I can't really say that I am disapointed. I have gone from smoking a pack a day to 1 cig a day. I haven't drank or done anything else harmful for an entire week. I feel like tomorrow is my birthday and I can't wait to start eating again. But just so y'all know I am actually not really hungry, I just really want food.

Just thought I would post my progress incase someone is interested.

If this is anything like using up all the gasoline in your car before refueling... I say BAH. You'll live on... and so will your car if you DON'T do it.

Any proof of those claims?

I don't know. There is a huge abundance of material about this type of fast online. Mostly it is called the "lemon fast." Check out the second link that was written by Janine Leach ND, DO, PhD, HonMFPHM. I am not sure if you will find anything in the journal of medicine but then again this is a homeopathic

That's a lot of letters next to her name. If MD was there, I might even read the link...

Got any articles in medical journals that suggest this is remotely beneficial?

I didn't post this to try to get any of you to do it or to prove that it has benifits. I believe they do from what I have read and from what people who have done it have told me. All I want to do is pass on my experience to you.

But if anyone can find info saying that his is BS please post it. I would love a reason to eat again.

Naw, her family is just more into that kind of thing. We have been seeing each other for almost 6 years and I am almost closer to her family than I am to mine.

I think it makes sense, I read a few medical reports of how fasting works wonders for epiletic (sp?) patients. Also whenever animals are sick they usually fast by instinct, I guess something about not eating allows the body to focus on cleaning/repairing itself or something.

thinking it makes sense and remembering something from Animal Planet doesn't make it true.

Fasting might make you live until you are 102 but I will remain skeptical until some research is published that states such...
