this one is from the city of Blyth, just outside of London.

One bolt of lightning hit about a 100 feet away while I was on the bus going home from work. The bus was bathed in this ghostly white light and then a millisecond later the thunder crack was so loud my ears were ringing and the bus actually shook a bit from it. 3 young women screamed from being startled, lol.

It's finally ending. I hope.

A good rainstorm every once in a while is nice, it washes pollen from the air and crap from the streets.

Wow that looks like one hell of a storm. Those are always fun though. We don't seem to get thunderstorm much anymore. It just rains a lot.

It came through here first. 365,000 without power this morning in the area served by DTE. Ours miraculously came on about one in the morning. Internet is out. I decided to try out using my phone as an access point and pages load as fast as they do on Comcast. Might try to tether it in a bit as an additional learning experience.

There must be far more outages statewide as the storm moved basically West to East. I have to believe the whole lower third of the Lower Peninsula has been affected.

The south has tons of power outages right now, that must have been one hell of a storm.

We don't have any equipment that far south in Ontario but have some in Quebec and there's some of our stuff that has been out since like 6:30 last night. Assuming it has to do with the same storm as Hydro Quebec told me they had tons of outages due to storms. Their site does not seem to be as detailed as Ontario's though.

Same here. I'm in Toronto. Our little one was frightened. :(

I just read about some guy losing his unRAID array. Remember folks, RAID is not backup.

we had random power outages all over the city.

my apt complex was out for a while.

a downburst was reported in the far north end. A major street was closed due to trees that were knocked down and power-lines damaged.

A day earlier, but:

University of Waterloo student killed in lightning strike :(

A first-year University of Waterloo student was struck and killed by lightning while walking on campus Friday morning.

The 18-year-old was walking down a pathway from the school's ring road to the Student Village 1 residence area around 9 a.m.

Fire officials say she had moved under a tree for shelter from the fast-moving storm when she was hit.

Thunderstorms are dangerous and people need to respect them.

We got the same storm, less lightning though.

I must admit, I was on the beach, drinking a beer with friends, watching all the lightning over the lake - and it was awesome. It was pretty constant for a couple of hours. Then, in an instant, the wind picked up and started blowing sand and chairs everywhere, so everyone rushed inside the bar. Decided to call it a night then.

Amazing first pic OP, looks like a giant angry vagina hurtling right at you!. Here in FL violent thunderstorms are the norm, we just hope like hell a 'cane doesn't head our way. I'll post a pic below of when a tropical storm parked itself offshore and dumped "22 of rain in about 30 hours, needless to say the golf course was closed that day!..

No I live in Toronto now. I miss the Vancouver weather.

KT

You should have said that Toronto was fucking shit, then we'd all know what you meant. :awe:

Christ that city can fornicate itself with an iron stick, but I digress.

A house not too far from where I am got hit by lightning. Struck the TV antenna and started a fire. Guess it wasn't properly grounded. Officials said there was about $150k worth of damage done. One person was injured. Was around 8pm, which was about when I was pulling up into town. Actually saw the fire trucks go screaming off in that direction. Assumed it was a car crash.

That was probably the worst thunderstorm storm I've seen roll through here since we had that tornado touch down in 2009.

Get those type of things, roving storm cells almost everyday during the summer down here in Tampa Bay.

Hence a lot of the sports teams called Lightning, Storm etc in the area.

They usually aren't so huge, are like ninja thunderstorms that move in and out fast.

Yeah, what BUTCH1 said.

Just got finished cleaning up the mess here from that storm. Fortunately only a bunch of broken branches knocked out of the trees. Thought one of my 100'+ tall maples in the front yard was going to come down for sure though.

Been a few years since I've seen a storm like that one come though with such intensity. Seemed like 2-3 lightning strikes every second non stop for over an hour.
