That's not really a specific enough choice. There is great variation in those large families of CPUs. A quad core is likely to be faster than a dual core nowadays, but other than that they can be closely matched.After consideration I decide not to open new thread, I have an old DDR2 machine need to renew for emergency usage, the choice is between AMD PhenomII & Intel Core2.
But an AMD chip is likely to be far less impacted than the Intel equivalent of its time because a significant part of the performance deficit is due to Meltdown, which AMD avoided.
Of course, you could just disable protections via the registry, and hope that you don't run into issues, especially if you are careful about where you go online and what software you run.
