While I hate Atari for trying to kill off support for NWN, some good things have come out of it, like Darkness over Daggerford for free. Should keep you busy till NWN2 and The Witcher come.[/quote]

Information

Ossian Studios, headed by former BioWare producer Alan Miranda, has completed work on a huge 25-30 Neverwinter Nights adventure called Darkness over Daggerford. Formally a Premium Module, this adventure is huge enough to stand as its own expansion pack with new creatures, features, and content never seen before.

Download

Features
- A 25-30 hour classic Dungeons & Dragons role-playing adventure with a strong Baldur?s Gate feel and almost 200,000 words of dialogue!

- Produced by former BioWare Producer, Alan Miranda, who was the Producer on Baldur?s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal.

- A brand new world map system, never before seen in Neverwinter Nights, enabling the player to better explore a large world, complete with random encounters.

- A player stronghold to enable more challenging stronghold quests, and featuring cool player customization features.

- Three new TNO tilesets created by DLA and released to Ossian Studios through an exclusive agreement with BioWare, including a completely new exterior tileset with rolling hills, sea cliffs, and castles.

Sweet!

Time to reinstall NWN and also see if part 2 of Sands of Fate was ever fixed/finished.

YAY! just what i was hoping for. I was previously stuck (by a bug i think) in the Eye of the Beholder module that prevented me from entering dungeon level 8, and so i stopped playing nwn for a bit. Nice reason to play NWN again!

Yep, downloaded it last night. Great stuff. Didn't say anything about Linux support but was able to extract the files from the exe file and place in proper directories according to Readme. Works fine.
It's to bad NWN2 won't have native Linux support.

Free mods are always good!

At first, I made a wizard. Then I leveled him up and walked out of the house. As soon as I walked out, I got owned.

So a caster is dead meat even with summons? :(

That's too bad, SoTU/HoTU were balanced so that I could play a wizard/arcane archer without any serious problems, but many other modules only work for fighter types :(

I really looked forward to this game years up until its release. Then the OC turned out to be the equivalent to what would sound like a fart noise. So I turned to its online features(which is what it was really made for).. modules sucked for a long time.. very buggy and just bad all around.. so I made my own modules and dm'd them for several months. Had a blast.. Then another game came out(forgot what it was) put NWN aside for a while..

Came back when both expansions where released.. thought they where decent but wasn't totally impressed. Played several 'persistant world' modules.. had tons of fun..got bored.. wanted to go back to my own module building but the competition got so tight I didn't want to put in the effort to catch up with all the coding and new features and functions to keep on par with everybody else.

So NWN has been uninstalled for at least 8 months now. I don't know if I will ever have the willpower to dig out all the cds again. Definatly someday but not now.

Bioware did something nobody else had ever done before and overcame an amazing feat with nwn. I just could never find 'my place' with the game.

I'm curious how Obsidian are doing with nwn2 though. And am definatly looking forward to Bioware's 'Dragon Age'.

I don't know why I typed all this...

NWN2 looks like its shaping up pretty nicely. Its supposed to have full party control, which will make it the first 3D RPG, to my knowledge, to support that feature. A long time coming, henchmen control schemes are trash.

Regarding Dragon Age, Bioware seems to have it on the back burner. :( They're focusing on Mass Effect, which looks like a Xbox Diablo clone. :( Bioware hasn't got a publisher for Dragon Age yet.

Going by what the devs are promising, NWN 2 should be a vast improvement over the original - they've added party influence where new abilties and story branches can be unlocked through conversations/actions, a la PS:T/KotOR 2.

The environments look a little spare to me judging by the screenshots (unlike Gothic 3). Maybe they'll get fleshed out a bit more.

If you recall, Bioware got bought by some private group and merged with another developer (pandemic?). I hope they are not going to focus on creating games will appeal to the masses of console gamers and have a toned down story, empty character development, hack and slash game.

I don't think that is the case. After years of being on Bioware's forums I think they know where their fans stand.

I also dont think that they have it on the backburner. The way I understand it is that their staff is broken up into teams.. same team still working on DA.. it's just that MA is coming soon so they are giving it all the publicity.

I also forgot that they opened a new studio in texas a while back for a mmorpg project. I can't believe I forgot about that. I wonder where this is going?

I seem to have found a bug, I completed the truth about vampires quest, the quest log says to return to the guy at the temple to cash it in, I go to the guy stated and yet it does not allow me to cash it in, the only option is to say that i am still working on it. I killed the guy that was causing it, btw. I also cannot cash in the cheese escort quest.

EDIT: It looks like folks over at NWN Vault are having the same problem.

1.1 patch today:

The 1.1 update is not available yet; our play-testers wanted a few more tweaks to the final battle (around 5AM this morning). Hopefully the new build will be released on the Vault today (and I'll get some much-needed sleep tonight). :)

Maybe my bugs will be fixed
