She's an Apple and Linux user, mostly because hardware doesn't matter to her. She is ex-Google and ex-Facebook. And according to her, Apple takes ages to fix firmware related bugs in their hardware like display issues etc.
Apple only cares about the money. That's all. You know that guy who spent time on making MacOS run on an Intel CPU? I bet he would've gotten fired if Apple management at the time saw no money in it. But they did. Steve Jobs got on a plane and showed it to Sony for their Vaio line of laptops but Sony declined. And then the Intel Macs happened.
Contrast that with so many other companies where employees are free to work on stuff unrelated to their main job if they don't have anything better to do, like opensource projects.I bet Apple is like Facebook, from where Rachel from the above link was fired because she would finish her tasks and then go around helping others. And she was given a warning to stop helping others. I guess they just got jealous that she was getting too popular with everyone.
