That seems like it would interfere with a person's ability to play soccer.

Soccer players aren't actually the greatest of men nor toughest. Maybe this will prevent them from playing almost dead when bumped into and suddenly arising to play to the roar of the crowd? I'm all for it. :D

Most I've seen is a nasty no-shinguards, slide tackle-induced broken leg. Broke clean thru the tibia and fibula... it looked surreal. I've never heard of a serious head injury in soccer, tho I've never really searched either.

My old roomate played soccer in HS, said he saw quite a few nasty head injuries, all just concussions, no deaths, though I'm sure there probably have been deaths in soccer, considering its played worldwide.

He was tellin me one time that college/pro guys can take headers at 45-50 MPH, and since they arent wearing a helmet, suffer more brain damage in one or two hits than the avg football player suffers in a full game.

I think there was a study that showed that a lot of youth soccer players suffered some brain injuries (concusions) as a result of heading the ball. At a younger age, the cause was poor technique; at older ages, while technique was better, the ball was also moving much faster.

edit: however, I don't believe the extent of those injuries really affected the lives of the players. I think a helmet rule might be a bit too much, especially for older players.

even with shin guards that can happen, hell i broke someones leg in HS in a hard tackle, and ive seen many a blown out knee as well

only head injuries i have seen personally are people hitting heads and splitting the skin, a few stictes fixes that right up,

We already turned soccer into American Football once. Do we need to do it again?

I wish the govt. would just fvck off and let things run their intended course.
