Look man. It's still repeating tired old tropes. I've seen the same comments from the usual right wing dbags on social media about whatever black athlete talks out against police brutality against african americans, they are out of line - WHERE ARE THEY ABOUT THE MURDERS IN CHICAGO! Same shit when it comes to mass shootings. WHERE ARE THEY ABOUT THE MURDERS IN CHICAGO!

It's like if you don't talk about black on black crime in Chicago you can't talk about anything else. It's ALWAYS Chicago too.

There are just different standards when it comes to white on white homicides though.

Chicago murders are also mostly socio-economic murders - poverty, gangs. Mass shootings are usually some fucking psychopath killing just for shits and giggles. Or white supremacy. That seems to be pretty common.

Fuck you. I already said its a stupid topic. OMG a few people got shot in ammall somewhere!!!111oneoneone. Who cares? Chicago had more. Why arent there threads on Chicago? I mean, I couldnt care less. Its just funny how we're supposed to be outraged by some mass shooting that is eclipsed by another one.

That's the other dipshit argument about Chicago. Chicago has strict gun laws! Proof they don't work!

NO shit. But where do you think the guns come from. Everywhere not too far outside Chicago. Studies have been done showing where the guns that are used to commit the crimes come from, and it ain't from Chicago. It's really not that hard to get them there. If Chicago was on an island or a big big area with strict gun laws then you could examine it better. I mean look at Australia, or the UK for that matter. Or even most of Europe. Now tell me how bad the gun homicide rate is in those places?

Of course gun laws aren't going to work if you can get guns all over the place around that area like candy and just sell them. The gun lobby got their way. Instead of having common sense gun laws in place from the beginning so that guns weren't being sold like candy here and sold on the black market there, they just wouldn't be as prevalent. Shit I was a white middle class kid that started selling some pot and shit for a couple years and I could have gotten illegal guns pretty easily back then. I live in NJ where we have some of the stricter gun laws in the country.

Great, so let’s discuss this - what is the shooting rate in this county vs. cook county?

Then when you’re done with that can you post us information as to where Chicago ranks on the list of most violent US cities? (Here’s a hint - it’s nowhere near the top)

Things like this are always interesting because they expose people who consume too much right wing media.
 
You know, I was just thinking to myself the other day that covid and the lockdowns have seemingly heavily reduced a lot of mass shootings.

Hard to shoot up a school or bar with no one is there...

Well, so much for that. The vaccine will bring back our normal insane level of mass carnage.
 
Well, good signs for the US that we may be returning to our normally scheduled programming of violent and deadly mass shootings instead of being terrified of a deadly pandemic.

I think the Pandemic is killing more Americans each DAY than all mass shootings combined in recent decades.

Be glad it wasn’t second hand smoke used in the attack. There are a few conservative members that would be greatly concerned if second hand smoke use was involved. Guns...not so much. Hammers, maybe, or knives, but guns? Not so much.

I don't go there that much (I mean it's a mall...). But it's HUGELY popular and thriving overall. It's insane. I only go in there to see a movie once in a while, maybe hit the Lego store and (when they couldn't take themselves) pick up the kids.

Can you explain the relevance of that data to the event that happened on Friday night? I mean obviously they both involved guns and shooting, but you can't possibly be comparing the events... can you? I mean you can see the difference between them, right? Please tell me you can...
