Greetings,

I am a bit disconcerted by the news of a mass grave 90mi south of my metro.

No doubt my metro of about 1million people is of little consequence to the US in general, having been under-counted by 300k because the census decided not to even mail many of us (this white guy included) a census form. I understand that we don't have an interstate highway running to our million man metro because we're some of the poorest, most poorly educated people in the US. I get that a bunch of poor second generation Americans are intended to be left poor and ignorant, which is why my UT school is the 5th largest (10th largest of all universities in Texas) but the worst supported. I get it, the people with money and power don't like us poor ignorant folk because we vote for the wrong color in a red state.

What I don't get is the federal government not doing one one damned thing it was established to do: Protect the people on the boarder from invaders!

I'm fed-up with this shit and am moving away and will never return. Believe me people, turning a blind eye to this sort of thing just because it's the poor Mexicans that have to deal with it will lead to such mass graves 90mi south of your metro soon. Then will you wake up? Sure, but it'll be too damned late.

Thank you for your time and attention,

-me

Interesting; could you go into more detail regarding your plan and the positive implications for the rest of society?

According to my research, there are several fault lines running thru texas.

page35_fig.1.gif

Controlled detonation along the Balconian and Texan fault lines should be enough to SEVER Texas from the rest of the United States and create a geological crater which could then serve as natural border.

The positive implications... are no more Tex-ass.

I think general "he only good Indian is a dead Indian" shardin would have agreed;

But I'm thinking this may not be the best solution for the caring loving society we have today.

TECHNICALLY... we stole Texas from Mexico in 1848

I say we give it back.
Texas revolted against Mexico and requested annexation.

We "bought" (stole) California (and much of the southwest) from Mexico at gun point (and a discount) after it was decided annexing all of Mexico would lead to more slave states.

What do you want the US government to do about the mass grave in Mexico?

What would they do? Declare a war on drugs? Pull back every American solider and place them on the borders?

Look, it's the American public that has a pretty hardcore drug habit. There is a SHIT load of money being poured into Mexico, by American drug users. And, the US Govt goes after them as well. So, what more could they possibly do?

Also, maybe American business owners should stop hiring illegals as well. That will stop "them" from crossing our borders.

We can't scream about the Govt staying out of our personal lives and then expect them to do something about a byproduct that stems from our personal life; rampant drug use (personal life) leading to drug wars (byproduct) - Mexican drug lords want our business.

Sadly the USA can't just absolve itself of its own sins by simply consigning Texas to the waste basket.

Because its we the American people who fund the drug wars in Mexico as we buy up all they can smuggle in. And in return they buy our wonderful civilian firearms showing what an armed citizen can do to protect their country.

That and that charming saying, lead or silver, does the rest.

The US needs to deal with its illegal drug use effectively. Decriminalizing drug use is working in Portugal. It is time the US do something about drug use beside making selling it more profitable.

Really? You're saying that Americans deserve to have a war on our border because a lot of us do drugs?

The Federal Government was created to defend the country. It can keep out the drug smugglers while it's at it.

Excellent post.

And you should also get bonus points for the first person in this thread to properly use/spell "border."

This. Build drug manufacturing families inside the US, hire US scientists, raise tax revenue, and cut off the income stream going to organized crime.

Plan B: nuke Mexico until it looks like.... Mexico

Sounds like you want the government to protect you from the "ugliness" of drug use.

Maybe; stop using drugs?

Maybe; realize that for every $ you spend on your poison of choice, it's feeding some crazed drug producer.

You can't have your coke and safety too you know.

Legalize it. Poof. All profits for them are gone. I wonder what Mexico's GDP is when factoring in the amount of drugs they export. Or really, all of Central America and the northern countries of South America.

Do you think these results are not intentional?

Given opposition to sealing the border, and to assemilating the immigrant population, our opponents have shut down any peaceful solution. Not out of ignorance, but from willful intent. There is no lesson to learn, and no waking up. Things are happening precisely as they intend for them to happen.

You, like me, will flee the affected area. Yet running is not enough. Later this century, when that segregated and alienated immigrant population is 1/4th of the entire nation - there will be no hiding from the effects of a shattered nation. Today it is your former state. Tomorrow it is your former nation.

Yes, because 10s of thousands of fully automatic AKs, heavy machine guns and RPGs are sold in your average gun store.

I'm not saying no American guns have gone to the cartels, but when it comes to the drug war in Mexico most of their weapons come from central/south America where they were stolen from national armies. And those that have gone have hardly done so legally.

We can legalize ALL drug use, allow the industries to start up here and create jobs. A byproduct of this would be the near death of the drug black market. We will never stop Americans love of drugs and drug use, nor should we even try to. Legalize it all.
