Yep, Star-kid will remain, the 3 choices will remain unchanged, the ending will still suck. Like taking Tylenol after shooting yourself in the foot.

This thread brings up horrible feelings and memories. I'd almost forgotten how much my imagination and soul was raped by the ME3 ending. :(

I didn't expect any decent alteration. Pretty much expected that it would only be some "let's just try to wedge in some half-assed explanatory cutscene" type scenario. Disappointing, but not surprising.

So basically, they want us to give them more money just to say "Yes, that really is how it ends!"

EA and Bioware can shove it up their corporate butts.

I posted this in the other ME3 thread, however this is their official statement from Bioware forums.

An official press release went out today announcing how we are re-prioritizing the Mass Effect 3 post release content schedule to provide a more fleshed out experience for our fans. For many of you the "Extended Cut" will help answer some questions and give closure to this chapter of the Mass Effect story. Oh and it's at no cost to you - the fan.

Here is a mini FAQ to help you understand what the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is and isn't:

What can fans expect from the Extended Cut DLC?
For fans who want more closure in Mass Effect 3, the DLC will offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander Shepard's journey.

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
No. BioWare strongly believes in the team's artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.

What is BioWare adding to the ending with the Extended Cut DLC?
BioWare will expanding on the ending to Mass Effect 3 by creating additional cinematics and epilogue scenes to the existing ending sequences. The goal of these new scenes is to provide additional clarity and closure to Mass Effect 3.

When will the Extended Cut DLC be available?
Currently the Extended Cut DLC is planned for this summer, no specific date has been announced at this point.

Why are you releasing the Extended Cut DLC?
Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3. The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard's story.

So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes. Are we going to change the ending of the game? No. Do we appreciate the passion and listen to the feedback delivered to us by our fans? Very much so and we are responding.

Be good to each other and Summer is coming...

Original ending: We're all screwed, billions of lives lost, galactic civilisation is dead.

DLC ending: Just in case you didn't get it, EVERYONE DIES, but, good job!

I'll watch them on youtube but I won't reinstall and play through it again backtracking 1000 times to the same 4 areas on the citadel.

Yeah. The ME3 ending nightmare gave me nightmares for a long long time. If the ending isn't going to change, then i won't be touching the DLC with a 10 foot pole. I'll watch youtube for more rants on the DLC. The future seems grim.

At least DLC for multiplay is decent,MP is 1000x better then any ending in the game.

I have to agree with this. Initially I only tried the multiplayer b/c of the readiness rating, but after getting past the learning curve I've really enjoyed it for many hours. Still not good enough to even attempt Gold difficulty, though.

I'm also really happy the extra MP content has been free (so far).

Man..for the life of me..I just can't seem to stay awake or interested during the extra dialogue this time around. There just seems to be something "missing" in ME3... it just feels...lack luster and automated. But, I'd like to at least get through it to see what all the complaining is about. :)

Regardless of what is is depicted in the Extended Cut DLC, Mass Effect is going to be permenantly remembered for the craptastic ending and not the journey.

ME3 has potential but being rushed out to meet EA's quarterly revenue goals has killed the series for me.

For me, I'll get the DLC, play it through once, then uninstall ME3 and the piece of crap origin for good. It's sad too, I just uninstalled ME2 the other day and was somewhat reluctant to do so. ME3 I have no qualms uninstalling forever.
