Is it possible to back up saved game files for Mass Effect 3 - either to the Xbox 360 cloud, or to an external device?
There may be (probably are) restrictions on having multiple copies of gamesaves/profiles.
What I'd guess you could do is copy to your USB drive, and then do a low-level image of it using dd or something like that in linux.
Is the USB drive setup correctly? If there's nothing else on it, go through the steps of re-initializing (formatting) the drive for the 360.
I'll try it tonight but I heard people with me2 saves in the cloud couldn't import them into me3 and had to copy them back locally to the Xbox
They might simply be locked to prevent people from trying to mod them since your singleplayer character can have an effect on multiplayer.
No idea why you can't backup to cloud, though. Start a new career and see if you can send that to cloud. Could at least give you an idea if it's the save itself.
Ok, maybe I need to be more specific...
I've already tried both of these options (as best I know how). I went into my hard drive, picked games, scrolled down to Mass Effect 3, saw no individual save files so I selected my Mass Effect 3 profile, copied the file, and tried to place the copy in both the Xbox 360 cloud and an 8GB USB drive. For both copy locations, I was given an error that the file cannot be copied there.
So, that's why I asked if this is even possible.
That's why I said start a new career, which would also create a new profile. It's a diagnostic suggestion: if you can backup the new one it will indicate the problem is with the original.
