So I just finished my first play through of ME3 and did it without the DLC for new endings. OMFG, now I understand all the anger at the ending. It sucked hard. I kept the same Character through all 3 games, was loyal to Liara the whole time (I didn't even mess around with Kelly Chambers), and then I get those choices with no closure? Utter Bullshit. I'll now play the ending again with the DLC to see how it improves but that first run was pure crap.

EA is a bunch of greedy jerks, so for them to feel guilty enough to agree to the new endings for free shows how truly bad the original endings were.

Oh, despite the lousy ending, it still felt immensely satisfying to put a bullet into the Illusive Man. By the end of the game I had really developed a hatred for that guy.

yeah the ending wasn't great but i enjoyed the entire game and did a whole bunch of side quests until there weren't any more in my journal. still think 2 was better though.

I feel that the dlc ending was what it was suppose to be, the vanilla ending felt like a rush to get it shipped.

if the dlc ending was shipped from the start, there probably would not have been as much outcry

You realize the DLC ending hasn't been released yet right?

I don't really think they rushed the ending to finish on time. It was just really poorly thought out. There's no way that the rest of the game was so polished and awesome if they had to rush the ending. 99% of ME3 was one of the best game experiences in recent memory, and then that last 1% was one of the worst in recent history which really tarnished and otherwise excellent game.

I downloaded and played the extended cut weeks ago.

Why there is yet another thread on this is what boggles my mind.

it is pretty much accepted that the vast majority of the community didn't like ME3 ending. That was why they released a modified ending. pretty much end of story.

Why you played through the original ending when the DLC is available is beyond me...

I wanted to see if it was as bad as all the talk made it out to be. It was. I had stayed away from the spoilers as much as possible to keep from tainting my opinion. The good part was knowing that DLC was available that ended up clarifying things so I wasn't as pissed at the end as I might have been.

One can only hope. :D

Come on. You KNOW they will try to milk more money out of the franchise. it won't be "Sheppard's story", and with the changes in the universe as a result of the events of the ME series, it might be a very different type of game. But you KNOW that EA will want to milk that puppy till it is raw and bleeding.

shh, don't dash my hopes.

Either way the ME universe is dead to me with all the bullshit EA is pulling. No way in hell I'm going to install anymore origin crap.

EA ruin games but in this economy I don't see many developers being able to get funding for their games without a good backer.

I don't know about "Many", but I have seen quite a few Kickstarter projects in the offering. Wasteland 2, Titan Quest 2, just to name two.

I get that big corps fight for funding. And I get that the vast majority of the outrage and disappointment comes from a significantly small minority. I just don't get why the vast majority is happy to deal with the crap that companies like EA think is "Main Stream" and popular.

*sigh* another one of these threads. I played one character through all three games with DLCs and loved ME3 ending. For me it was perfect and much better than any heroic, salutated and applauded victory with hugs, medals and all that stuff. No explanation of things was needed for me, because I choose the synthesis ending and it's not possible to tell how exactly everything went on with the synthesis. All the previous choices of Shepard would be nearly nullified, because synthesis would have probably changed the basis of life itself. The change is so radical and prime, that it's unpredictable and is better left as an open idea.

I am glad you found it satisfying. I don't have a problem with the ending per se. I didn't like the options presented at the end but that is the game designers choice, and I respect that. My problem was how the end appeared to be slapped together or rushed, with HUGE inconsistencies and gaping questions. In my first run through the Normandy appeared to be destroyed trying to escape the destruction of the relays, but the next scene shows it crashed on a planet. The door starts to open then the screen blanks. Ok, but what the hell does that mean? I guess that means everyone died? Then who was opening the door? Next run through shows the door opening all the way and joker and Liara getting out. Liara? She was on my team on earth! How the hell did she get back on Normandy?

The ending was poorly handled. I don't know if they were rushed, but they needed to spend more time on it. I installed the DLC endings last night and will play through it again from the Cerberus base, I look forward to seeing the expanded scenes.

If you liked the ME3 original ending, then you played the game wrong.
