I highly, highly recommend playing ME1 first. Not only is it a great game, the second game has tons of funny references to the first that you won't appreciate otherwise. Also, the continuity between games is amazing if you import a save from the first game. I'm constantly amazed at the level of detail they put into that - it's not just the major choices that affect things in the second game.

Amen to that :) Love the many many references.

If you play ME2 with out playing ME1, I promise you will regret it. Just be ready for the game play switch from ME 1 to ME 2. Its like switching from Knights of the Old Republic and now youre playing Halo or gears of war. The stat system was simplified from ME1 in to ME2. for instance, we only have 6 things to dump in to instead of... what was ME1? 20 things? 25? Also, no more huge lists of stuff in your inventory. Just a few weapons, and a few upgrades. when you level, you get points to upgrade your biotics, and weapon upgrades are treated like biotics. Its more streamlined for sure, but i think i preferred the old stat system. Admittedly, i do not miss the whole getting lost in my own inventory thing, like i was playing Oblivion. So, yes. The moral of my cool story, bro, is that its less RPG, More shooter, ... more faster.

gah, miranda's body is so hot but her face always has that stupid annoying smug look. Not to mention she's totally a butterface... if you catch her at any angle her eyes will look so fucked up.

I've always kinda been attracted to Tali. If they had a romance path in ME1 I totally would've taken it; Ash and Liara were both kinda meh. It just feels wrong romancing a Quarian, there's no end-path and Shepard can't even touch her without making her sick or giving her cooties or something.

And Kelly is hot as hell LOL (read: one of the best looking chicks in this game... which is not really saying too much). Too bad she's not a real character.

So this leads to a dilemma... WHO TO ROMANCE LULS D:

Speaking of Tali: when she says "go for the optics," is that an homage to Baldur's Gate?

yes

This is from the mass effect 2 wiki page

Tali's combat drone is named Chikktika vas Paus, a subtle reference to Baldur's Gate II. Chikktika Fastpaws is the loyal raccoon familiar of Baervan Wildwanderer, a gnomish deity worshiped by Aerie.

* When Chikktika is summoned, Tali will occasionally cry, "Go for the optics, Chikktika! Go for the optics!", again referencing Baldur's Gate II's Minsc, who shouts, "Go for the eyes, Boo! Go for the eyes!" to Boo

There's so much fantastic humor in this game. I loved the spam in my inbox (first time I've ever said that!). And Mordin's singing was a major laugh out loud moment.

But yea, it does look a little messed up in the game sometimes.

I didn't know you could do that as well, but I was trying. I couldn't get Chambers to open up any new dialog options for some reason.

IIRC, there isn't dialogue or a romance scene. If you're seductive and she lives, you can all her up to your office from there after the main plot ends.

I know, Yvonne's a lot better looking in person - but her model just doesn't translate well in-game. Oh well.

To sex the Chambers, you need to be really flirtacious with her when discussing other crew members or in her Investigation dialogue. I was doing it for the luls and got to the dinner, but then I realized that it was an actual romance path, so I've postponed chatting with her to work on other romances first.

Holy crap about Mordin's singing. Was not expecting that at all.

Miranda's face at times looks flat out crazy. The part that jumps out at me is
when she shoots the traitor at the start
. <- just in case

Yeah, Mordin is great. I love this one

"Not right now. Trying to determine how Scale Itch got aboard. Sexually transmitted disease carried only by Varren..... Implications unpleasant."

On one away mission when one of the enemies burst into flames he says "flammable, inflammable forget which one is correct.....doesn't matter" or something like that.

Then if you talk to Mordin a lot he implies you are hitting on him

Lots of humor in the game.

You have to romance her throughout the game but you cant sex her until the end;
when the time comes to either leave immediately to save your crew or to wait a little while and get ready you have to leave immediately. If you dont by the time you get there, Chambers will die. If you leave immediately to save them, you will be able to save Chambers and can do her at the end of the game when you finish the mission.

I don't like her teeth. The parts mentioned in the OP are good, though.

Well, I just finished Tali's loyalty quest last night, and I realized - romances in ME2 are really unsatisfying. It only takes like two talks to get someone to "love" you. Pretty lame if you ask me. I haven't continued with the main storyline yet but it takes so little get someone locked in to the romance it's laughable. Where are the old BG2 days when it took over 30 dialogues to romance Viconia? Not to mention every dialogue was time-based; you couldn't just talk to her whenever you wanted after every minor mission and speed up how it works.

With Tali, I could see how it could be faster than normal. She has spent a lot of time with you and you do develop trust for each other. I could see how with Jack it would probably be easier than normal to romance her as she is a loner and vulnerable. One can also assume that the crew trusts you and you already have some kind of relationship with them. Taking it further is simply you initiating it. The game doesn't take place in the time of a few hours it takes you do it. They are together on a ship for quite some time.

Also, I always wanted to romance Tali in ME1.

wonder why the doctor never had a romance option.

She and Joker have the most crew time with shepard.

Being with him or her since ME1 first mission.

if you get her the ice wine you can have a nice fairly intimate chat with Dr. Chakwas. It wasn't necessary to have a romance with her, though - you don't interact with her much... and she's pretty old (a lot older than Shepard, that's for sure). Joker's only there for comedic relief (but he's damn funnay :awe:).

Dr. Chakwas is pretty old. Not a social commentary or anything, but platonic professional relationship suits her character best along with the crew.

Joker is an interesting topic as some fans have alluded to it. If Garrus and Tali are indications that EA/Bioware listens to the fan-base, then it wouldn't be surprising if Joker is an option in the last game. But who knows.

Wouldn't female Shepard break him?
