I also came across wrong again as usual, thanks josh, for making it understandable😛
You came across just fine, I was just agreeing with you in different words. 😀

Many thanks both to you and to amdxborg for really maintaining your DC sites and providing a great resource for the TeAm.

All that said, if you look at arstechnica, they mention their teams on the front-page/articles at least once every couple months which helps. On the other hand, he does have a link to the team webpage, which is, of course, woefully out of date.

Currently it's just an apache splash screen!

You have to imagine that if the Anandtech staff doesn?t think we are taking it seriously enough to keep our team page updated what reason do they have to promote it!

That said we do have several "unofficial" team sites that get updated quite frequently. Perhaps the combined efforts of those webmasters could be pooled to keep the teamanandtech page current.

Um you do know that virge is the owner of Teamanandtech.com
and is an active participant on the anandtech forums.

A pm to him would be your first course of action, but be advised ...he may not know his site is down, as well he rebuffwedc any changes the "last few times he was asked", not that he isn't receptive, he gets bugged about this a lot.[/quote]

Though I vaguely recall the last thread about updating that website (which I didn't know was down either😱) ,I don't recall what was in it!.
Was it a co-ordinated list of suggestions sent to Virge by 1 person or did he get multiple requests?
Maybe if he's too busy to maintain it he could pass control onto someone else?
Anyone here in regular contact with Virge?

You can still run DC when you've got your PC on anyway ,you don't have to leave it running purely for DC.
That's how most of us start off anyway😉

If the team isn't using it, why not?

It seemed to me the last time I tried to get something updated on there, that it was very hard to get ahold of the person who runs the site, since he's not around very much. Another member is working on an updated site, though it still may be in "beta" status. Hopefully he'll pop in with the address in a bit, because I can't remember it.

Indeed I'm too busy to work on the site anymore at this point, but that doesn't mean that it's off-limits to being updated. Shoot us an email(webmasterREMOVE@teamanandtech.com), and we'd be glad to talk about trying to get someone else access to do updates.

Maybe there is a way after all 😛

So I sent the following email

Subject
teamanandtech.com site is down and a request

on teamanandtech.com?

Please let me know.

Michael d Draper
My info was here

Let me know
And thank you sir.
Mike

Mike, please mention that I highly recommend you.

There, I've said it publicly now. 😉 lol

😛 😀

Thank you Greg, that means a lot to me.

Its folks exactly like you that make me proud to be a member of the TeAm, and to know I have such great friends here as well. 😛

I hope he allows it.

When did you send that?

I think very recently like within the last day or two. Hopefully there will be a postive response!

Wolfsraider- I also recommend you to edit the website. Although I have not been around quite as long as Smoke (*cough*old*cough* 😀), I give you my support.

If anybody is chosen for the task, I lend my full support to WR... He's a great guy, and I'm sure he will do an excellent job!

I sent it ...and then posted 😛

Wow you guys are making me blush lol

Thank you all for the support 😛

😛 you are all great TeAmmates and friends 😛

Now after Installing a ac unit, I am going to rest and enjoy the cool air with some hot coffee. I did have to turn off the amd and celeron to run the ac though 🙁

But they will be running at night when the ac is off lol

Mike

Luckily, Ive been getting cool air around here, so I have no need for the AC.

Anyway, I hope that our large scale DC recruiting will work/happen, as it would be great to see some new faces (or avatars) around here. 🙂

true

I just wasn't sure the old email addy was working since the apache splash screen was showing.

Just trying to cover all bases 😛

Thanks Assimilator1

Wolfsraider, your dedication amazes me. You'll do a great job, even if you blow up the server a couple times. 😛

It might make some sense for us to look into some sort of content management system. It would enable more than one person to update the site and therefore the burden could be more distributed. I have a lot of confidence in Mike's skills, but it does seem that no matter who tries to tackle this problem they soon find the time required to properly maintain it to be too tasking.

If we had content management the work could be divided so that a few people from each project could update their own project information. That way the content and the ability to update it in the hands of the people who write it. We use a system at work for this, but it is expensive, I am sure there has to be something out there that is open source that would do the trick.

There are a ton of content management systems available that are free / open source; the main problem is finding the wheat among the chaff. Many of them are optimized for blogging, or they are designed for a portal site and tend to be extremely inflexible in layout and design. Nevertheless, I think it's an excellent idea, and if no one else wants the job, I volunteer to handle the F@H section (though if another F@H'er wants it, feel free to speak up). 🙂

I had a content managment system in place on 2 sites
No one wanted to help much back then.

I really wish we could build a site and have editors, newspeople, and project knowledgeable folk all get involved 😛

We will see 😛
