now, i was wondering if there is any way to mask my IP. thanx

there will never be a 'true' way to mask your ip. theres a very simple reason.

all communication (http, ftp, etc..) on the internet is 2-way.

if your ip was truely hidden, how could the other side talk back? like to show you a web page, or answer an ftp request etc...

there are some sites that offer anonymous web browsing etc.. (and other similiar methods), but that is only going through a middle-man, it is still traceable if they log it.

That's like saying you want to recieve mail without giving out your address.

also, i hear about IP masquerading. what is this about?

That's a name for Linux NAT.

You want to investigate uisng someone's PROXY server. That's as close as u will be able to get to do what u want.
