im sorry. women's ncaa championship is a crock of sh1t. its the same teams that win every year and there's no damn competition. enjoy your "championship"

Wow, how incredibly clueless. You moron, Maryland barely had a program five years ago. How many times had Baylor won before last year? In fact, through the last eight years, you have four wins by the UConn dynasty and one each by four first-time winners.

Edit: on topic, the last 6+ minutes of regulation and also OT of the game last night was awesome!
QuoFT. Also, women are now dunking. Many men can't even dunk, as well as some in the NBA.

WOW really! Guess what, nobody really cares who wins except those schools because its boring. They should have a Womens ESPN so that regular ESPN can stick to real sports. Take Nascar away too for all I care.

Wow, how incredibly sexist.

Honestly, until this year I didn't enjoy Women's basketball at all, but once you start watching it it is really quite enjoyable.

And the MD-UNC final four came was one of the top 5 most exciting games, either gender, any sport, i've ever seen.

PimpJuice's delivery was d*ck, but it's pretty much true. i'm a UMD grad so i enjoyed the game, but it's pretty painful to watch women's bball. they can pop 3's, but most other parts of their games are struggling.

Dude last night was crazy on campus, everyone was yelling out of their windows and cheering. I had to close my window so I could write my paper >_<

Its true womens collegiate basketball has a long ways to go, but its come a helluva long ways. The players continue to get more athletic and capable, and its a matter of time before more more schools become competitive with the powerhouses, just like the dispersion of talent now in the mens tournament.

Tolivers fadeaways under pressure were amazing. And anyone see the college 3pt shooting contest a week or two ago? The women's winner absolutely smacked down the men's winner head to head, missing only 4 3pt shots out of the 25 total balls.

Its just wrong to compare womens basketball to mens, because womens sports overall was so underfunded and underparticipated for years. Now with more funding towards it, with lots of help from title IX as well, the level of womens play continues to escalate in quality of play, as well as commercially. And not to mention, the womens final was more exciting than any of this years men's final 4 games.

you're a wild one...

if you thought last night was crazy, you should've seen when the men's team won in 2002

I wasn't there for that, but when we beat Duke in early 2k5, that was a lot of fun. Cops wound up shooting rubber bullets, tear gas, a few fires were started. Good times.

Maryland (barley) beat a UNC team with a gimp Ivory Latta.

Who cares?

btw, how did the Maryland men do in the NIT?

Stop ruining it! And yes, I did realize that.

I pretty much agree jj, the sport definitely takes skill... but aren't the women's basketballs smaller than men's? I'm pretty sure the rim is the same though.

Don't get me started on Stan Heath :|

O'Bannon tore us up in the 95 finals...I think he dropped like 31 🙁

That is correct. It is easier for women to put the ball through the hoop because the ball is smaller.
