It's been talked about for some time, but it looks like Cloak and Dagger from Marvel Comics is getting their own TV show. I used to really love the characters back when I was younger. I'm not sure how to feel about this show as it's being described as "a superhero love story". Something tells me this will be more (..uh.. what's this generations 90210?) than something really interesting. I also have concerns it's on some off the wall channel called "Freeform", which according to the article is directed more towards a younger viewer.

On the plus note, I have been slowly picking up copies of their first appearance in Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man issue 64 for years so here's hoping it'll do well enough to give me a good payday. At the least I can expect idiots making a rush thinking it'll do well.

If it is for younger viewers, they may not use the original story of getting abducted and used as test subjects for experimental drugs that activate their mutant powers. And the series used to be a bit dark. Mr Jip was always some of a fun guy to see. I do not think he will be present in a kids version.

I also have some Cloak and Dagger comics. But not all unfortunately. The endless fight of Cloak to keep the hunger in his darkness in control.

I was always partial to "Ecstasy" but that's probably due to puberty more than the story line..

on abc family, have no hopes for it.

This.

OP - Freeform is the new name for ABC Family.

They are trying to shed the old stereotypes of anything associated with ABC Family... but it's still ABC Family. They just have a little more edge these days with their main shows, but above all else, everything is still geared toward the young crowd.

Is it gonna be like the old comics with the two girls or the newer ones with the dude in the cloak that teleports and the girl that shoots blades of light?

Never mind it says it's the newer storyline and a love story? I don't remember that in the comics.

Didn't even know it was a Comic. I remember the old movie and video arcade game back in the day. I remember the movie had the video game cart as part of the story.

There was kind of a love story in it. One of the secondary stories was that Cloak had a thing for Dagger but she was oblivious to it. She only thought of him as a brother, but they may played with it in newer books they guest stared in. They were also in the Ultimate universe, which I didn't follow and I heard they were a couple there so that might be where this is coming from.

There wasn't any movies for Cloak and Dagger. I don't even recall them being a guest star in any of the old arcade games. I could be wrong but they weren't ever big enough to warrant anything. Even now I think this will be more like Big Hero 6, where Disney only took the names and very basic concept of powers and went somewhere else with them.

I think hexan is talking about a late 70's early 80's about a boy who stops a Russian spy during the cold war.

Anyone else think we've reached critical mass with comic book shows where no one cares anymore?..

Oh jeez, I'll be skipping that one then. Not a bad thing addressing all kinds of audience with their catalog but not for me.
