Marvel or DC

Ameesh

Lifer
Well which one do you like, one has spiderman and xmen the other has batman and superman.

after much deliberation i would have to say DC what do you think?

I started out as Marvel-only (when I was a kid, the guys who introduced me to comics hated DC with a passion -- basically they said Marvel had more realistic and human characters who faced everyday problems while DC characters were not like that) but then became a DC-only guy.

The stories in Marvel comics just became so convoluted and many of them never "finished" (the X-Men comics had so many hanging threads that I started to forget what was going on).

I became a DC-only guy during the "Crisis of Infinite Earths" timeframe -- it was a good time to start reading DC comics because it was basically a reboot of the DC universe.

marvel!!!!!

you have Spider man, Capt America, Xmen, Fantastic Four, Dr Strange, silver surfer, the Hulk, Avengers, Thor, DareDevil..... and thats only the good guys...

Dr Doom man... come on... no one is more bad ass. oh yeah.. Venom is pretty bad ass too.

edit: oh!! I forgot Iron Man!! He was one of my favorites.🙂

That's a tough call. Both have good stuff going on. Although I suppose Marvel has some real momentum going right now. WIth their Ultimate series of books ( The Ultimates, Ultimate Spiderman, Ultimate X-men, Ultimate Team-up ), which all are really well done, and the upcoming movie they seem to be firing on all cylinders. I've been enjoying The Legion ( DC ) quite a bit, Justice Society, and Justice League, but that's about it really. DC's not playing all the media outlets like Marvel but part of that is because of all the licensing BS that surrounds the main characters. That prevents a lot of good stuff from coming out.

I used to pretty much be a Marvel only guy. Then in the early 90's they got on that whole, every other issue is gold-embossed and we're going to have continuous crossovers, so you have to buy EVERY Spider-Man book in order to figure out what the hell's going on. That about did it for me. Now I only buy tradepaperbacks, and those rarely.

<< DC has (or used to have) Sandman, so my vote goes there. >>

hey there is a Sand Man in Marvel too! He was one of Spidermans first arch nemisis back in the 60-70s.

Daredevil - release date June 2003, Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock, Michael Clarke Duncan (from The Green Mile) as Wilson Fisk- AKA The Kingpin

The Hulk - release Summer 2003, Eric Bana (Sgt. Gibson, Black Hawk Down) as Bruce Banner, Jennifer Connelly (no explanation needed - whoo-hoo!) as Betty Ross

Man, in the early nineties DC rocked with Mignola as artist (Fate, Batman, Legion of Super Heroes). But I haven't read anything since 2000, so I don't know what shape comics are in these days. I quit reading when both shops came out with mutliple covers for the same issue. Bleegh!

:disgust:

I hope they kept the good writers and got off this "Collector's issue" kick...

IMO, Marvel has gone the way of using 'pretty pictures' 😉 and gimmicks to sell their books. When I was a regular comic reader I was a DC (mainly their vertigo line) fan. They had the best writers (Ennis and Delano to name a couple) and didn't need to resort to secret origin whose your daddy crap.

I haven't collected any comic books in a long time, but back in the day it was Marvel all the way (hey that rhymes 😀). I loved Venom and Spiderman and I got into a little bit of Ghost Rider too.....mmmmm, those were the good old days.
