Face off against dozens of super-villains (soon to be revealed).

Sounds like the Xmen legends and other Marvel game of the same type. But that's fine, because those were fun with just 4 people so more would be good too. Sign me up!

Interesting, I really enjoyed Marvel Ultimate Alliance, so I'm assuming I'll enjoy an MMO version. I love me some Marvel based games.

Just remeber it was ex Diablo people who made Hell gate too (which I actually enjoyed for short periods). But I must admit DC online isnt to bad, and I enjoyed the other superhero games some.. in short bursts.. Marvel has a better stable of Hero's then DC (opinion).. might be fun!

IMO Marvel is doing it right in that you play AS the heroes, instead of just meet the heroes as is the case with DC online.

Looks like this launches June 4th. Anyone playing? Anything you can share? I'm still intrigued, but was not willing to get in on the founders program (been burned before).

same here, i'll play free when it launches, haven't had the time to take part of any of the beta sessions.

I played on one of those free weekend things they did when alienware gave out a bunch of keys. Played a little. I liked it, it is very much like your standard over head hack and slash as far as gameplay went and had inventory/leveling/skill trees for each hero. From the few heroes I tried out they all represented the hero well. I bought the founders pack for the Hulk during the St Patties sale and with an additional coupon was able to get it for $16.xx so wasn't a big investment (Hulk is my fav superhero). Overall though I'd say the game should do fairly well. They plan to release lots of costumes and more heroes as well. You only get 1 of 5 heroes to start with out of a pre selected group of them, to get new heroes you have to pay for them.

I'm not a big comic person but I enjoyed it and I figured for $20 or under it would be worth it if you like that type of game play, especially if you know what hero you want to play as, jump on it early so you get some extra perks.

Cool, thanks man. For that price I would definitely be interested.

So the gameplay is like Diablo, or Titan Quest from a basic controls perspective?

Who are the starting heroes? If I can't be Jean Grey and melt everything around me with my mind, then I don't want anything to do with it!

Yeah, plays like Diablo/TQ/Torchlight. You unlock new abilities as you lvl up and some can upgrade them as well iirc. It is standard flare stuff really just with a Marvel skin on it all, instead of mana you have spirit, still a big blue sphere lol. Kill guys they drop loot, you can craft (though I didn't try it) and there is questing and bosses and stuff.

I can't remember them all, Storm was one (who I picked she is pretty good), Hawkeye was another, I don't remember the other 3. Jean/Phoenix is not one of the free ones you get to choose though.

"What Heroes are offered for free at the beginning of Marvel Heroes?

When you start playing Marvel Heroes, you will be able to pick a hero from a choice of several, and play through the entire game for free, finishing the story. You will only be able to choose one hero to play; other heroes may be granted as random drops throughout the game. To ensure you get to play a specific hero, you will be able to purchase them. The starting heroes that can be chosen from include Daredevil, Storm, Thing, Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye."

My friend, who loves Marvel up and down, paid 60 bucks for this game, and now wishes he hadn't. Apparently it's boring. If anything, don't prepay to play the game, wait for it to come out free before you put down some money for it. Fair warning.

So it's City of Heroes again but this time without the character deletion for making an actual Marvel hero? Okay.

I played for a few hours during the beta window and it was just ok. I could see maybe having fun playing with a consistent group, but otherwise it gets tiresome pretty quickly. Since it is F2P I will probably keep it on my PC and just play it periodically here and there when I feel like playing something mindless.
