Well there didn't seem to be a thread on this today, so I'm starting one. Today is the federal holiday celebrating the birth and life of Dr. Marting Luther King, Jr. I don't think I need to say much about him because his actions, his words, and his legacy speak for themselves. Today is also the anniversary of his birthday, one of the rare times the holiday falls on his actual birthday. I wonder what Dr King would have thought of the world we live in today. Would he be proud of advancements in race relations? Would he be distraught that we treat men with fear and indignation because they appear Arab? Would he be happy that men no longer have to march the streets to get the rights they deserve. Or would he be saddened that we remove rights from men because we fear terrorism. I can't know what he'd say if he were here today. All I can do is hope that others follow his example of peace and love to all of mankind. I wish I were born earlier because I would have loved to hear him speak in person. But I cannot. So please if you've never heard it, please watch. I think we all need to be reminded.
I Have a Dream!
Martin Luther King, Jr. would have been 78 today.
