Marshmallow headphone static on laptop

Whenever I plug in these headphones on my laptop I can hear a faint "pshhhhh" noise. I hear it even when the volume is at 0% or muted. I tested some other headphones (over-ear type) and I didn't hear any such noise... that could have just been because they are a bit more quiet though.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? It's really annoying.

does your headphone do that with an ipod/mp3 player/cdplayer/computer cd drive, other computer? If not, then try a new soundcard for your laptop.

My company laptop does this...laptop soundcard gets interference from other components....crappy onboard sound FTL 🙁

Yeah, it's a company dell laptop (latitude D800). Annoying :|

Yup, mine's a Dell Latitude D610...piece of junk if you ask me, but I didn't exactly get to choose😉 I even get feedback from things like moving the mouse...it's pretty awful

Edited for my complete inability to type today...🙁

you can get USB external soundcards for not too much now-a-days.

Of course, no guarantee that it will not pick up the noise from one of the laptop components.
