Anyone else really excited to see this go on? It seems like a crazy way to land with so many things to go wrong but im hopeful that it will work.

I know i'll be around the tv sunday night with beer in hand

thanks for reminding me, i may stay up to see it east coast, or may just catch it the next day.

I really hope it works. NASA's planetary program has been gutted, this is going to be the last big mission they get in a while. Curiosity looks like an amazing machine but NASA has really put all their eggs in one two-billion dollar basket.

I wish they made a backup one just in case but with such a small budget.. not possible I assume.

Curiosity's budget was not small. The rover is very expensive, and they used a big launcher (Atlas V 541) that cost a substantial amount as well.

I know I'm going to be up and I'll probably DVR it for the kids to watch the next day.
