Married People: How much did you spend on your spouse for Xmas?

Crazy. She makes as much as I do, and we both buy basically what we want throughout the year.

Besides, never really considered Christmas a husband/wife holiday. It's more for the kids, really. It's always seems a "things you want" kind of holiday, which is why it feels weird for husband/wife.

I probably spend about that much (ehh...maybe more) on our anniversary every year (including the dinner, which is usually about half of that on its own). Anniversary is a 'romantic' holiday, which is why thoughtful/romantic gifts are appropriate here.

And, of course, her birthday present are usually things from Victoria's Secret (or others), so that's not really cheap. Women don't take birthdays well, so sexy/romantic gifts work well here to remind them you think they are still hot, etc.

But $275 for Christmas sounds a little bonkers for a spouse.

$0. We can't really afford presents, so we aren't buying for each other. If I could afford it, I'd get her a new head unit for her car.

I've only got the stocking stuffers for my gf and I'm already in it for over $400. Her list is pretty long, and will probably cost me about $600. She spoils me even more (I got a $2000 Ibanez guitar for birthday 3 yrs ago)

being married i get to spend on her what she allows me too. my wife is very hard to shop for, she never needs anything, doesn't like jewelry, or any girly things, has more pajamas and loungewear then she could ever need, and does not like electronics.
i got lucky this year because she decided she wanted a laser level, and some other tools. last year she wanted a nice rolling toolbox.
she is a veterinarian, but has started getting interested in redoing old houses.

Mmmmmmm, probably $1500.

What'd ya get her?

A ring, some earrings, various other crap that chicks dig.

I should put a discalimer on that amount. My wife is very frugal, and probably doesnt spend 500 a year on herself. That includes clothes, jewelry, make-up all that crap. I generally treat her pretty well on special occasions, of course she pays the price by having to live with me. 😛

i'll have to post some of the pictures of her coveting the toolbox while we were replacing the suspension on our cj-7. she likes the jeep too. i think thats why i keep her around.

With the last couple things I want to get him, I'm thinking about $300 or more. I can't remember for sure. I didn't really keep track.

EDIT: Tim and I aren't married yet, we're engaged. 🙂

I got her THIS for around 1800.00

That, plus a 2004 Z71 Suburban. Used, but still not cheap.

She has a long, long, long way to go to catch up, to say the least.

I put a $5k deposit down on my wife's gift, but it might not actually get here until Christmas, 05. 🙁

I didn't actually total it but I think it was $100-$200. Of course that doesn't count presents we got for ourselves, such as a new futon and 5.1 speakers for the Xbox. 😀

I'm slightly over $300 at this point. Her main gift is worth over $500 though. It's nice to have friends in the jewelry industry who are willing to give me employee prices! 😀 I used to work for GIA with this guy. He definitely knows jewelry.

This year we decided that we were only gonna spend $100 on "stocking stuffers" for each other. Never the less, I never stick to the current rule.

I couldn't turn down the opportunity to get 20% a Coach or Kate Spade purse, thanks to the Friends/Family sale at Bon Macy's. So, along with the $100 in stocking stuffers, she has a Coach purse that was $260 after discount and with tax.

My mom on the other had, dad got her a 2001 BMW 740i Sport 🙁

This is the first year in a while that we have bought for each other. Now that the kids are in college we can afford to spend some on us instead of spending it all on them. We spent about $250 each on each other.

Not married, and no gf right now, So I had extra money to spend on my friends. I spent about $1800 this year, and I have one more to get, but it is only $68 and change.

My wife spent close to $22K on me. Got me a new 04 Tacoma!! I cheaped out and got her a new printer for $150. So I have a LONG way to go to catch up. She PWNS my ass for the next couple years on Christmas/Birthday/whatever days.
