Married Couples - How often do you have sex?

Recently, my wife ran across a article that says the average married couple has sex two times a week. Seems a little low to me, but I was wondering what the Anandtech Community has to say about this.

1. How often do you people who are married have sex? (just counting your wife, not the girlfriends on the side).
2. Do you feel you should be having more or less sex than you are getting?
3. What really helps/hinders you having sex? Time? Jobs? Stress?

According to that, the answer is either 4 or 8.5. Which one is right

We try to have it every other day in general... it doesn't hurt to let a little pressure build up in between, you know what I mean? I would say we average 3 times a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. I think we are both reasonably satisfied... however, job stress does seem to sap the Mister's drive from time to time, and I have to try not to take it personally.

I just want to know what kind of a sick joke was it for men to reach their sexual peak in their late teens and early 20's and for women to reach it in their 30's????

Isla, they get a lot of that 'peak' back in their late 40's

3. We are each under alot of stress and work opposite schedules so those are definitely factors.

Oh, and btw we've been together 4 years and are getting married in April. I don't see things changing all that much in the future. We've already been that &quot;new&quot; phase but I think it's the quality, not the frequency that matters to us.

Like Isla, it depends. Sometimes it's morning &amp; nightly, sometimes it's nightly, sometimes it's every other day, and sometimes it's every other week.

Biggest hinderance is my wife's chronic cervicogenic headaches.

We don't schedule it. It does seem to happen a lot more on the weekends. We both work around 50 hrs/week so stress and fatigue cause a variation during the week.

I think if my wife didn't work I would be exhausted though!!!!!!!

1. 3-4 times a week. That is an increase from before we got married almost a year ago.
2. It's about right.
3. TV on definitely hinders and so do soliciters calling on the phone and knocking on the damn door!
What helps? engaging in the activity some other place than the bedroom.

Ok, here is my breakdown of sex during marriage:

1-5 years, Sex Everywhere in the house every day of the week
5-10 years, Sex in the bedroom 2-3 nights a week
10+ years sex is when you bump in the hall and say F*ck You to each other.

Married on 7/8/78 still going strong.

1. Whenever the mood is right and the kid's are out of the house (Whoop's kid's one is 20 on 7/15 the other will be 19 on 2/23) both back to school and things will be looking up.

2. No just right. Not enough to break things but still keep wanting.

3. All three but when my wife travels with me for work there always seems more time for sex. Maybe it is just the hotels.

By the way it keeps getting better all the time.
