Pros and Cons. Any reason to get hitched before end of year or wait until beginning of next?

Id say wait...take your time and enjoy your freedom before its all over. LOL

I got married at age 21 (which is still pretty early), and have been married for about 5 years already (anniversary comming up in Dec). I love being married to my wife, but I still miss my freedom. Enjoy it while it lasts!

As for Cons of getting married at the end of the year....I only see one.
My wife and I were married mid-December, which only stinks because I have to spend money on a Anniversary gift and christmas gifts all in the same month. And it seems year after year her gifts get more expensive.
If I had my choice I would have gotten married in May-Aug time frame.

We're both in early 30's. We've known each other 8+ years and dated seriously over a year. No question whether we'll marry, just when. Divorce is neither an option nor an issue. What about tax issues? Other things not considered?

Given the on-going marriage penalty that Bushman has yet to repeal.....

I don't think so. If you get married at this time of year you have to have an anniversary during the holiday season which may or may not be to your liking.

PS. Make sure her first name isn't Always.

My boss once told me before my wedding, "Go have fun with other women now. If you do it now, it's a bad judgement call. Do it after the wedding, and it's illegal." :)

We got married last Dec 7th. We're both Christmas freaks, and wanted one more thing to celebrate during the Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas seasons. It was great, we did the snow/Christmas theme. Corny to some, but perfect for us. We tried to keep it classy. No Santas or Rudolphs. Just Christmas symbols and a tree in the reception hall (they had it up anyway).

Dude, I got HAMMERED in taxes last year and was only married in 2 of those months...yeah that means my 1 year is this month - Sunday. Woo-hoo!

As far as when to do it, we chose Oct because there (thankfully) would not be snow on the ground. :)

Well, I know if your going through a divorce and it's not final by December of that year then you have to file your taxes married/separated the next March. Conversely I would assume that if you are Married before December then you can file this year's taxes as Married and get more $$$ back.

More money back? Since when does marriage increase your return - always been a penalty in past.

depends on the taxes for the pro's....do a single and married workout and see. Otherwise that about the only pro or con.
