Popeye's is so damn good but expensive. I'll drive to the closest one which is like 8miles away but it's a one time deal and I'm sure it's limit one per customer.
 
Popeye's chicken sandwiches are great and one of the best bargains around. But I've noticed a huge range of quality in the Popeyes I've been to. The one somewhat near me is great, the next closest is a dump.
 
I was in the neighborhood, so I swung by Popeyes at 10:30am this morning. There were at least 40 people in line (never saw more than 2-3 in line there before) and all were getting the 8 piece special. Apparently it has been promoted heavily in TV commercials.

It took about a half hour to get mine. Given the traffic I saw, I wouldn't count on them still having any chicken left by dinnertime-and it's going to be overwhelming packed at lunchtime.
 

Update: Co-Worker went to check it out. Drive through was wrapped around the entire building and out into the street. I told him to wait it out 🙂


Sweet! Popeyes is the best. Just opened a new one right next to my work too. Gonna get some for lunch 🙂 Nice find.

 
Great deal! Popeyes in Houston were the best. They had some awesome onion rings back in the day.

Unfortunately; the Popeyes in Seattle, along with most food up here, blows🙁
 
Popeye's is awesome food but they hire the absolute worst employees in my area. It's routine to wait 30 minutes for a meal in Cleveland...

That is weird...I'd expect to see a shuttle launch, or perhaps the NBA playoffs at a chicken restaurant.
 
2hr wait at 5:30pm in tacoma (72nd st./ I5)

I never had their chicken before and would have walked out -- but the room full of people waiting were all good natured and friendly, so I stuck it out thinking it must be an amazing deal for a whole room to be generally happy waiting 2hrs for chicken. Every time someone's ticket number was called, it felt like they won the lottery.

The chicken was much better than I remember as a kid from KFC -- but I don't think it was worth the wait. I'll skip it next time, or use the wait time to shop at the Sports Authority, which is in the same parking lot.

I spoke to a lady while waiting and she said they ran the same deal about 6mo's ago -- and there was hardly anyone there. So I guess their advertising was a success.
