49ers 6+22 for the Saints 2.

As a Niner fan I hope not. At 6 and 22 they're looking at AJ Hawk/Vernon Davis and probably the #3 CB, Joseph. That would give them a MUCH bigger all around boost than Bush.

If anything, if they got the #2 pick, I'd suggest they take D'BrickWall and let him be tutored by Larry Allen and put them both on the left side. Alex Smith would have DAYS to pick an open receiver.

While I don't think Bush is overrated, I don't think his kind of play will translate well to the pros. I prefer strength rather than speed at running back, personally.

And the Texans logic is sound. Super DEs are far more rare than super RBs. Look at Emmitt Smith. Small.....slow.....but playing on a team with a spectacular offence. Once you built up a great O you can mix and match RBs into it easily.

Passing over Jordan for Hakeem is an acceptable 'mistake' as Hakeem was still a HOF level player.
Now, passing over Jordan for Sam Bowie is another matter altogether...:D

Remember the furor over the Colts taking James over Williams.

Now who is actually playing.

I would have more trust in the coaching staff vs the publicity agents.

LMAO!

I'd feel the same way.

Too bad the Vikings have excelled at mediocrity for the past 5+ years, so I have no idea what having a top 5 pick is like :( Last year was close, but a little sour with the loss of Moss.

jordan>olajuwon

he wouldnt have fit in in houston. that would have been a stupid pick. the rockets would have wasted a pick and jordan would have taken much longer to develop

What a bad week for Reggie heh. Probably the worse week of his life.

Being drafted #1 is like winning the heisman, it doesn't really matter. All that matters is the contract for huge money.

Bush isn't THAT good.

Texans fans won't be complaining when Mario is thumping opposing QB's, while he's able to run with any TE in coverage if necessary.

Mario is an absolute BEAST. With 4.6 speed. Absolutely amazing.

You can say that he's not responsible for the actions of his family, but come on, realistically, do you believe he wasn't involved in this scam?

I am not so sure this was a scam. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was a USC booster who was hooking up Bush's family and now that Bush is coming out he decided he wants to throw off an NCAA investigation into providing illegal funds for players.

Couldn't agree more. Having your running back/receiver running back kicks is a recipe for disaster.

seriously don't see the saints picking up bush now because they paid deuce mcallister a ****** load of money and just having him there in the bench would be a waste imo. Same thing goes if they pick up a quarterback since they acquired drew brees
I think they're still going to pick up Ferguson.

I also don't see the titans picking up bush as well for the reason since they also have a good running back. they're better of going with a qb, since mcnair is pretty much over.
I can say the same thing with the jets since they restructed curtis martin's contract but then again; he's getting old. Chad pennington is too injury prone so I think the jets will still pick up Matt Leinart.
Now the packers on the other hand. Ahman Green only has one year left with the packers and they have a qb to replace favre(rodgers).

If the Saints don't pick up Bush I think he will be packing his bags to Green Bay.

My predictions on the first 6 picks:
Texans: Williams
Saints: Ferguson
Titans: Leinart
Jets: Young
Packers: Bush
Niners: Hawk

If no team trades down of course. Which I doubt the saints are going to do.

i don't see how this scandal affects his abilities in the nfl...

what's crazy is that they didn't trade the pick if they weren't going to pick bush.

were they sure williams would go early if they didn't take him at 1?

jordan>olajuwon

haha olajuwon had a brilliant career, and back to back championships, and a hall of fame career. jordan is probably the greatest player ever, but it was no mistake to take olajuwon. i can't say the same thing for sam bowie though :) and also, if you check head to head records of the rockets and bulls throughout jordan and hakeem's career, you see that the rockets dominated the bulls in the regular season, especially in the early 90s.

and about the draft, i am pleased with mario williams...the only thing i wished we could have done is to trade down, and maybe pick up an additional pick, before taking super mario...we probably could have picked him lower down than #1. oh well

anyhow, bush is great...but he's going to be another cadillac williams, which isn't a bad thing at all.

(dominick davis + jerome mathis) > reggie bush

The only thing bad with this is that they spent too much(pick value not money) on williams. Everyone blowing smoke about take williams early. The texans have tons of needs and could have gotten some other teams to give up a bunch to have #1. one player won't solve their problems.

Same with saints Reggie is gonna want to get paid, the saints are better off trading him away and try to get a bunch in return and maybe try to get back those 4 picks they gave away years ago to draft ricky williams.

the thing I'm waiting for at the NFL draft is to hear the NY crowd if leinart and bush are still avaliable and the Jets pick someone else.

20 more mins til the draft starts...

i think the texans made a good decision... i dont know how reggie's talent will translate into the nfl.. he has always been good at avoiding the big hit but hes also never had to play against nfl LBs, DEs, and Safetys....

saints are in a great position. payton says we will take bush, but we are still open to trade offers, but itll take a "ricky williams type" deal to trade bush away.

sure, this team has other needs, but when youre in a position to draft a reggie bush, you take it. mcallister has been hurt the past few years, and he hasnt been the same since the 02-03 season. i think payton is loving the thought of having bush and a healthy mcallister in the backfield. power in deuce, finesse and explosion in bush.

the saints also need to put asses in the seats, now. drafting bush will help do that and get the saints in the public eye.

even if we trade down with the jets or packers, this will be a great draft for the saints. new coaches, new qb, benson seems commited to winning, great draft oppurtunity, saints returning home to the superdome......hell, i may be able to watch the games without the bag on my head this season.:p
