I have a feeling that Galaxy is a type of game where if you don't like it, you just don't WANT to like it. Like I've told people before, I regretted buying my Wii before I played Galaxy. Zelda and Metroid were good, but there was something that just didn't fit... Galaxy feels like it should, plays like it should, and I don't miss a normal controller when I'm playing it.

Zelda and Metroid didn't fit?!?! Ok, I'll give you Zelda, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the added control motion. But Metroid... it's the first time I've ever enjoyed playing an FPS on a console. I've been trying my damnedest to play on the xbox so I can get bioshock and the orange box... but I just can't get used to it.

But I digress... Galaxy rocks. And that's coming from someone who did not like Mario 64. I bought it on the VC and realized I had played it before and didn't like the controls.. haha.

Zelda was a gamecube game with tacked on controls and not updated enough for the Wii. Metroid, while the controls worked, it still felt like a chore playing it. I liked it, but I still wishied I had a normal controller in my hand.

I loved Zelda and Metroid, i thought the controls were awesome. I hated Mario64 controls though, it was way too sloppy. I guess im just outgrowing the Mario themed games.

I don't like it. I hate the stupid shadow race and catch rabbit levels. The red star control is not good (try copying Nights Nintendo). Swimming control still sucks like SM64. And they don't have good power-ups. Spring Mario is a PITA to control and boo Mario is pointless. And I'm surprise they didn't bring back the raccoon suit to fly, instead of making that very disturbing looking bee suit...

I did the bare minimum to finish, and I think I'm done with the game.

What exactly does that mean? Just for the sake of argument, what if the characters were Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank instead? (meaning the character models were different but the game remained the same). Do you think it would hold you interest then?

Not trying to attack you personally but it just seems that outgrowing mario themed games means you're outgrowing fun. Perhaps you don't like platformers which if true, would make more sense to me, but Im noticing that more and more gamers (mostly younger) have a hard time actually appreciating a game simply because it's fun to play. Im not saying SMG is the best game ever, just that Mario doesn't try to be cool, it tries, and in my opinion succeeds, in being fun.

I think that's just a traditional Mario game component. I think voice acting would totally change what Nintendo has going on with those characters. I like them the way they are with their minimal vocalizations to punctuate dramatic, exciting or humorous moments. I can't understand why you would think it's completely unacceptable.

that makes no sense at all. are you saying that good voice acting would ruin the game? its the same for zelda. is it like that for metroid too? i dont understand why they'd rather have subtitled mumbling instead of putting some good voice acting in there and bring more life to the characters, story, and really immerse the player in the game.

I agree. Having full voice acting for Samus Aran or Link would totally change how I view those characters. Giving these characters voice acting for the first time would be difficult, because everyone probably has their own ideas as to how these characters voices sound. If I am playing Zelda and he has a voice like Larry King, I might not like playing the game that much after that.

It's just an artistic style that IMO works for Mario. Not everyone's going to like it.

I DO think that I would get tired of consistently hearing an over-exaggerated Italian voice after a while but in limited usage it's funny.

Didn't MP3 have voice acting?
I don't mind voice acting not being on SMG, but it was sorely missing on Zelda. Zelda would have been a almost faultless with voices.

The change of characters have nothing to do with it. For me when i started playing SMG, it just reminded me of a upgraded version of Mario64. I wasn't a huge fan of Mario64 as previously stated. The improved graphics are great, controls are hell of a lot better, and still has the same objective to get stars to complete the game. Mario64 for me was like the early Tony Hawk series, a check list of goals to play on the same level, which gets very repetitive.

The bunny catching in the beginning is what triggered me to say "kiddish." Sorry guys for me not being "fun" enough to like this game lol... Zelda, Metroid, and RE4 for example have more interesting story lines that appeal to me to keep me glued to the game for however many hours it takes to finish.

this obviously tells me that you hardly even played SMG.

the different stars you go after alter the actual level. even on the very first level, getting the first star and the 3rd star take you in completely different directions on the level.

i agree, the beginning of SMG started out kind of slow, but it quickly got very VERY awesome. the game has some of the best level designs ever.

and as for you not liking mario 64, all I can say is that I feel sorry for you. :(

Would you have felt better if the bunnies in the beginning said one of the following from the other popular games....
"Would you kindly kill her?"
"All of you are vermin, cowering in the dark, thinking what? That you might win?"
"Mario, it's now or never, take the shot.........Good shot! I think you blew off his arm. Shock and blood loss will take care of the rest."

I haven't played SMG, yet, but I can tell you that I would undoubtedly enjoy the game more if the bunnies were like... this. :p

it's okay to not like a game. what is kind of annoying is that he doesnt even give any reasons other than "it's kiddish and plays like Mario 64" which is also known as one of the best video games of all time.

there are plenty of games that are hits that I personally do not like at all - Mass Effect, Oblivion, Metroid Prime. However that doesn't make em bad games.
