<< Yeah that's what I did but absolutely nothing beats the two button rectangular controller! >>

actually i think you can hook up a NES controller to your computer, with some mods to the connector and some software..

I don't use whistles, but I do get 99 lives on the second level jumping on the enemy-things (name?) as they come out the chute.

Goombas! Mario 3 was the best NES games hands down. World 7 is hard as hell for me. I remember you can warp straight to world 8 by getting the two whistles in the first world, using one, when you're at the thing where you pick the world to warp to, just use the other whistle. Man I wanna bust out my NES to play it again too. :D

SMB3 was the best game! I used to play that every day during the summer and beat it. Lost Levels was hard. They had that stupid wind that kept on blowing you back unless you jumped. The best suit depends on the level. If you're in Level 7 Hammer suit is the best because the shell is fire-proof and you can take out those plants. But for Level 5 Tanooki suit is better because you can fly and turn into a statue. Too bad my NES broke already :(

man I stayed up to late playing Mario 3 on the NES :)

anyway level 7 is the hardest level for me as well.

also how do you get two whistles in the first world???? I can only manage to find the one in World 2.

I haven't played this in so long I have forgotten a lot of it :(

I can't remember in which stage, but there are white blocks which you can jump on. Just press long enough the "down" button, and then you fall behind the whole world, but you have to jump over the enemies you see in the foreground. And at the end of the level, there's the whistle. I thought it was in 1-3 or 1-2.

I've still got the original NES system with the action pack (red gun) with a dozen or so games, including Mario 3. I'd sell it all in a heartbeat...

yeah, I remember my great times playing Mario games. I used to play em a lot.

Anyone ever beat Faxanadu? I did, and I really liked that game, but the passwords sucked.

yeah me too. I have well over 140 nes roms.. easily. so I probably have about everything your looking for with the exceptions of sports games. Super Dodgeball was the only decent sport type nes game I liked. the rest just sucked.

Megan Man kicked butt though

140 Nes roms, ahahahahahahaahhahahahaah

I have over 700 NES roms, about 150 SNES roms, about 50 Genesis Roms, about 10 N64 Roms, and about 100 Arcade Roms.

I am still waiting for an emulator that will play Zelda 64 adequitly. I am so glad that I am able to rediscover my youth via emulation! hehe

I don't have any moral problems either, since I would never buy any of these games anyways, and I will fully support the game industry when their new stuff comes out, and I will drop some cash on Gamecube and stuff.

nes games were harder than the ones we have now, IMHO... nowadays, its a pretty good assumption that you can beat a game without much difficulty, maybe a few hours... but i swear, some of those NES games were not meant to be beat (has anyone every beaten metroid without the justin bailey code? or the other one with all the kkkkks or whatever?)

I've beaten Metroid without the code. But yes, MANY NES games were VERY hard. I am sometimes ashamed how easy some of today's games are. Look at Mario 64 (ok a few years old) it's a fun game, but it is not difficult to beat at all. It's just time consuming, there is no actual gameplay difficulty though.
