Saddam didn't terrorize us and none of the 9/11 hijackers were from Iraq.
There was a mock-up of an airliner outside of Bahgdad used to train terrorists.

Iraq was after yellow-cake Uranium from Pakistan.

Iraq warred with the peace loving Muslim's from Iran. ;)

We've learned that radical Islam can come from anywhere in the Muslim world. We've learned that it is generally small groups of radical people.

Can you think of anywhere better to learn this than in Iraq? While toppeling Saddam Hussein?

I agree that most of them need to be withdrawn and said bases closed. However, I do not have a problem with cost-sharing agreements (ally provides land and about half or more money used for maintaining the troops / bases) for some of our close allies like Japan, South Korea, etc.

yup that'd be nice, more money for local projects back at home, or simply paying off debt which would also be nice

We thought that after WW2 also... it took us about a month into another real war to realize how mistaken we had been.

Hmm? We won WW2 with technology. We have even better technology today.

There is no reason that involves the protection of America that we need to be on the ground in any significant amounts elsewhere in the world.

The only reasons to be on the ground involve aid missions.

When someone over here can target a missile so that it goes through a warlords front door without touching the door frame, we're golden. :p

Like I said, I know it isn't ever going to be our policy, but it is entirely possible to use our planes/missiles/subs/drones and nearly nothing else and still be the most secure nation on Earth.

Yeah, just like we got Saddam in our opening salvo of the Iraqi invasion?? Now, with all this wonderful technology I'm sure you can tell me where Osama bin Laden is?

We've learned a lot from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq... and their Governments/peoples have learned.

Other Islamic nations have learned.

Next time, we are not sending soldiers in to battle, for regime change, or any other reason. Next time we are attacking (like terrorists) whom we think our enemies are.

I assume (hope) you will be leading the charge?

I got tired of people like you saying things like that, slinging the phrase "chicken hawk" around. I'm now in the US Army, ironically as the wars are winding down. Ah well, there'll always be more wars in the future. And I'll be leading the charge.

So you're in a hurry to kill someone legally?

If you read between the lines a bit he was suggesting that we fight the terorists as if we were terrorists also. I was hoping he would strap on his explosives and lead the charge to show the rest of us how it's properly done.

The 2004 RNC called, it wants payment for using its trademarked disproved talking points.

Nebor is a prime example of why we send the young.

Anyways this is good news but I know 1 marine who didn't make it :\

I realize this, I was just trying to impress upon him to be careful of what he wishes for because he might get it.

Sorry about your friend. I know an army soilder who didn't make it. Played hockey with my son, a nice young man.

Iraq is but a drop in the bucket. We need to stop the nation-building that Clinton started once and for all. There is no reason we need troops in 130 countries in the world. Bring them ALL home and let the rest of the world be their own people.

Clinton started this? You need to re-read history.

The young? I'm 30 years old, I left my home (that I own) in Colleyville, TX, went on sabbatical from my 6 figure IT job for 33% salary, and became an officer in the United States Army to help our nation in a time of war. I did so before the economy tanked and the recruiters offices filled with people looking for a job. My civilian job is waiting for me when I'm done here. I'm not a kid. I was just willing to put up instead of shut up.

But that's ok, patronize me because you know so much about me, and because you're so passionate about your beliefs, and your country.

You're 30 and still as dumb as you are? Wow. Anyway, good luck on any deployments and try to come home alive.

Name calling eh? Seems to be a lot of that from the left. Yup, I'm a big dumby. Didn't do my undergrad and MBA at a tier 1 University. If I were smart I'd realize that being a democrat is the only sensible thing to do.

You're a dummy because you seem to honestly believe that there were death panels in the health bill.

Yup. We proved we could effect regime change AND leave the country better off than we found it. Timeline was a little long for my taste.

Yes, it's very easy for a hundred thousand heavily armed men to wear out their welcome. Bush wanted basing rights, which is a horrible idea, setting up a base amongst people who want to kill you. We set up a democracy, now we need to clear out and see what they make of it.

That'll help us decide next time whether to do it differently or just kill 'em all and hope Allah will know his own.
