WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A three-star Marine general who said it was "fun to shoot some people" should have chosen his words more carefully, the Marine Corps commandant said Thursday.

Lt. Gen. James Mattis, who commanded Marine expeditions in Afghanistan and Iraq, made the comments Tuesday during a panel discussion in San Diego, California.

"Actually it's quite fun to fight them, you know. It's a hell of a hoot," Mattis said, prompting laughter from some military members in the audience. "It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right up there with you. I like brawling.

What's really cool is if you get to snap their neck. Something about that "crunch" as it passes through your hands and the satisfaction of having done the job yourself without modern technology.

Remember those 2 little buildings that fell down in 2001? The people who hes talking about killing are those reponsible for that, or at least encouraged it. God forbid he actually tell the truth about what he feels instead of lie and be a politician to look good.

That being said, I wish it was my job to hunt and kill the bastards. Unfortunately that aint my job over here.

Actually, the Pentagon is defending his remarks as well they should. There was nothing wrong them.
