On these boards amid discussions about marijuana and its effects, it is most universally accepted, from what i read, that marijuana does not in fact make you stupider... that seems to be what i read most on here. Now, i'm just wondering that if this is true, why is it that so many peope i come across that are known to partake in this illegal activity are braindead morons that never even know the time of day. They are consistantly of the same demeanor, as well in recollection speed, processing power, etc... i just find it incredibly hard to believe that marijuana doesn't kill brain cells while all the stoners I see are complete idiots... I just want to know how people can say its not dangerous to your intelligence while real world experience proves otherwise.

Because stupid people are incapable of playing chess and fixing cars and writing poetry. They're highly adept at getting drunk and stoned, though, so they stick to what they're good at.

maybe you know some people who smoke pot but wouldn't consider telling you because of what you'd think of them

people who are like that have smoked themselves stupid. no, marijuana doesn't "make you stupid", but it does affect long-term memory, and i imagine the people who smoke it alot aren't the brightest to begin with. although, the validictorian at our high school a few years back smoked a lot.....

AH...but maybe your cause/affect analysis is slightly flawed.......Marijuana may not make people stupid and lathargic....it might just be that most drug lovers are lethargic and stupid to begin with and thus the unrelenting need to find another high!!!!!!!

maybe it does but so does alcohol

and so does smoking cigarettes

I know people that smoke pot that are in in my major and do better in school l than i do

I have 3.4 in Electrical Engineering at the University of Delaware at pretty good school IMO

I have never smoked marijuana a day in my life either

I'll buy your argument is you confess to being a heavy user. Otherwise I'd have to say that the evidence points to the contrary.

i dont know... it just seems like anyone with academic credibility doesn't do the stuff, and those that do come to school and sit there and talk about a sky without clouds or whatever comes to mind... whoever I come across that I know is a patron of the stuff is of disgusting intelligence... and no, i am in no way holding too high of a bar of judgement... I've known people from when they started till later, and after their period of indulgence they're a much slower thinking person, and have a lot more trouble understanding things... With a lack of medical studies at my finger tips to learn about the issue, all i can go by is real world experience, and this is what i see

Why do you say that? Do you know me? And don't worry, i'm not bashing the act if you partake in it... i'm simply supplying my experience and asking for more feedback...

This leads me to believe that you've never really even been around people that smoke cannabis, let alone know what you're talking about. This is not "real world experience". If you really knew people that smoked, you would realize that they're no different from you or I, or anybody else that frequents these forums. It sounds like you've watched Half Baked one too many times. Try Saving Grace. ;)

Infact, "real world experience" says exactly the opposite of what you claim. There are far more "braindead morons that never know the time of day" that drink alcohol, or worse.. than there are who smoke cannabis.

Our bodies weren't designed to inhale smoke. That's a no brainer. If it kills brain cells, then so be it. However, when you think of "killing brain cells", you probably think of it in the wrong way. It's not like smoking cannabis (or cigarettes) will make you stupid to the point of altzheimers, or anything like that. So clearly you're not losing braincells on that level, lol.

It sounds as if you've already made up your mind, it makes you stupid.

If people only realized that the drugs in cough syrup were more potent than cannabis....

i does kill brain cells just.

BUT beer kills more.

and teh peopel you met are the typical "Stoners" who just smoke all the time. most likely met them when they were stoned. now when you are stoned it can be likend to being drunk impaired motor skills. slow brain function ect....

thingis that when you not stoned you rnormal again just like when you are no longer drunk. cept weed dosent give you a hang over like tequila does

for some peopel it affects them differently some can act perfectly fine and go about there busniess and other at like a dumbasrse.

just like some peoel can drink and controll them selfs and some become alcholics

you guys don't need to inform me than alcohol is bad, or worse that cannibas. I know drinking a lot is bad. I'm just asking about marijuana and how people say it doesn't make you stupid... and yes, i know a wide variety of "users" that are not all constant, devoted smokers.
