Don't forget, you don't have to smoke it to get high. It can be eaten!<link deleted> Save your lungs and get a better, longer lasting buzz too

Also, don't forget that you MUST cook it <link deleted> before you eat it. Raw pot won't do squat!

If you can obtain a copy of &quot;A Child's Garden of Grass&quot; by the Collective, grab it. It's a hoot :p

vi_edit, I DO know people who smoke 10 (ten) or more joints a day. By this rule - 1 joint equals 1/2 pack of cigarettes - they are smoking the equivalent of 5 packs a day!!!

I doubt it.

Their lungs are not incapacitated - some of them even surf daily.

I believe your rule of tar - 1 joint equals 10 - has been around for at least 30 years. That is why I question it along with other government facts. It just doesn't seem reasonable to assume that marijuana is that much more tarry.

However, if you'd care to provide a link, I'd appreciate it.

Very true, but I think that the &quot;high&quot; you get from marijuana is much more than you get from alchole, though I´v never tried marijuana.

Sorry, Czar but alcohol causes far more impairment than marijuana.

It is very easy to drink alcohol into a stupor or even to death. On the other hand, smoking too much marijuana will eventually just put you to sleep.

BTW - very important - I am NOT recommending you go out and try marijuana. I am NOT recommending it for anyone; I am simply responding to the topic's title about the &quot;truth&quot; about it.

I believe it is very important as a pain-killing medicine. However, its use as a recreational drug DOES have health, social and psychological issues and its usage or not, has to be decided by the individual.

I still stick with what I said.
Moderation in anything is the key.

I think it is hypocritical that pot is illegal yet alcohol is OK. People don't get violent or out of control no matter how much dope they smoke.

Actually, Pot is on the ballet in Alaska to be legalized. It's actually kinda funny here would be the breakdown.

age 18- can buy weed
age 19- can buy cigs
age 21- can buy alcohol

If it's organic don't panic.

I got to interview Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong fame, for a live radio interview (Radio Free Hawaii) about 4 years ago. At the time I was smoking heavily because of severe pain from an accident.
(You can guess the topic and what was going on during the interview.)

I asked him about his own usage. He told me it was VERY important to limit pot smoking; That he quit for months at a time to &quot;clear his mind and palate.&quot; He said he also looked forward to the excellent Hawaiian herb he was partaking of and enjoyed the 'spiritual' experience.

He said if it is used too often one loses their appreciation of it and it just becomes another habit (much like smoking tobacco).

EDIT: As to ingestion vs. smoking: One can get far &quot;higher&quot; from eating it (because so much more can be eaten); however, much more (approximately 1/3) must be eaten than smoked to get the same effect. Also, the &quot;high&quot; is different.

Yeah, I'm with Red...I've had some brownies that'd blow away anything I'd smoked. Plus, after eating them, if you get the munchies and eat again, it stirs em up in your stomach, and you get high again. It's the weirdest feeling, becuase usually eating kills my buzz.

haha...apoppin, I ate those brownies when Tommy Chong came to Tulane for a comedy show a few years back. I don't think there was a non-red eye in house. :)

I guess your link wasn't &quot;appropriate&quot;, Ornery.

:(

Have you listened to hip-hop after using one of your recipies? It is very much inspired by herb (much as reggae is). I never got your final verdict on it.

Oh dear, I'm an evil weed linker! Sorry mods :Q

Just wanted to mention that you don't have to eat any more to get high than you would smoke. In other words, a joint's worth would be enough. But did you know that you don't really need to smoke the whole joint either? After three tokes, you'll be about as high as you're gonna get. Read that book, &quot;A Child's Garden Of Grass&quot; for more info.

Personally, I found pot to be addictive in a way. I would get high about three times per day. Not three joints per day, but buzzed morning, noon and night. It got to the point that I &quot;needed&quot; the buzz just to stay in a decent mood. When I had to go without, my temper got out of control. Sorry, but that's the truth about it. When I finally quit, it took a couple months before my temper got back to even again.

I'd still prefer pot to alcohol, but I won't bother. Once I start, I &quot;can't&quot; seem to quit. I'll end up buying a small bag (at a huge price!) and end up smoking in secret whenever I get the chance. It just seems like everything is more fun to do while stoned, including work. Guess I'm a &quot;reiferholic&quot; :(

<< It just seems like everything is more fun to do while stoned, including work >>

Depends HOW high you are, probably. If you are really high, everything can suck hardcore. Just a buzz will leave you feeling run down. Responsibility + marijuana sucks.

Yes, good point apoppin. I used to LOVE music when I was stoned. Since I've quit, it just doesn't matter much.

Guess it depends what kind of work you're doing, guys. I wouldn't try to balance a checkbook while buzzed, but washing the car or roofing would be just the right activity for me to tie on a buzz. I work in a shop, so I'm not mentally taxed ever. Your milage may vary ;)

My comment about orally ingesting it was aimed at the THC pill that doctors administer, not at throwing a bunch of it into a batch of brownies and munching away. The TCH pill is not as &quot;powerful&quot; so to speak as smoking a joint.

I personally don't advocate it's recreational use, but I do accept and approve of it's medical benefits. It is much cheaper, safer, pleasant, and more effective than many &quot;legal&quot; alternatives.

Many of my &quot;facts&quot; or arguments are from a couple drug and human body interaction classes that I took in college. All of my &quot;facts&quot; were in the text books and therefore I am unable to link any direct quotes/statistics to my information.

And as far as your friends who smoke that many joints, the tar may eventually catch up to them, and then again it may not. Peoples' bodies have different reactions to things such as that. Some people can smoke for 70 years and die of natural causes. But, on the other hand, there are thousands that die prematurely of smoking related difficulties such as cancer, emphazema, and heart attacks.

In everything, there are exceptions to the rule.

Thanks for the explanation, vi_edit. I quit smoking for health reasons (after I no longer needed it for pain management). I saw certain changes in my body that I did not like.

However, I just doubt the tar in marijuana is 10X more than tobacco; perhaps it has to do with the way the body rids itself of it.

Yes, Ornery, many many musicians use marijuana. Most/much reggae and hip hop is devoted to it.

Anyway, I owe I owe, it's off to work I go . . .

Boy, am i glad i live in Holland. At least i dont have to hide when smoking, nor worry when i see a policeofficer. Not to mention quality is better and the price lower. :p

Anyway, weed is a softdrug, meaning non-addictive (as opposed to nicotine and alcohol which fall in the harddrug catagory just like heroin). There are no known side-effects (yet), other than temporary short-term memory issues that disappear by itself when you quit it.

Maybe you guys need to get some information from non-US sources, as i find most of your sources on this subject to be bloated with propaganda, inaccurate or plain wrong. Try get some info from more liberal sources like Holland. And no, unfortunately i dont have any links to go with this right now. I'll look though.

You need to spread that wisdom around to lots of other threads as well.
