I think I found an error... was that supposed to be a -2.21?

Also, OP, how do you want to normalize this?

Are you comparing $x worth of marijuana vs. $x worth of alcohol vs. $x worth of tobacco?

Or are you saying y servings of marijuana vs. y servings of alcohol vs. y servings

It matters because I can't buy and use nearly as much marijuana as I'd like to

Tobacco, however, will get you addicted and will mess with you in many ways. Health issues aside (which we all have heard them a million times), there's a lot tobacco does to you. You get addicted to spending money on cigarettes that you don't need since you get NOTHING out of smoking it. You'll smell really bad. Your skin will appear to age a lot faster... You'd be weak minded since the addiction takes you over. Over time, smoking tobacco will definitely hurt you.

Have you ever smoked, or are you just regurgitating nonsense?

That being said, tobacco being the most likely to harm you overall, it takes the cake.

Tobacco easily. What I hate about alcohol is that a drunk person could kill other people that don't drink, such as a drunk driving accident. But you're talking health, so that doesn't really apply here.

I think that alcohol is the worst because it can kill you in one night, it can lead to the loss of your organs and eventually if you are a chronic enough alochol abuser, and you suddenly stop the withdrawel can kill you. Tabacco is second because the lungs can recover pretty signifgantly from even pretty long term use from what I understand.

Pot is the least because if you use a vaporizer and hook it up to a bong you can have all the fun of weed and smoking out of a bong but without the smoke that results from lighting it directly, thus making it the least impactful on the body.

..it's not the substance but the desire to use.. that's ultimately hazardous. playing yoyo with brain chemistry under the guise of "recreational" use is a fools pleasure.

I read a study that said marijuana has been shown to prevent certain types of cancers. Don't have a link, but I'm sure more info can be found via a search.

Nothing like having medical grade delivered right to your front door ;)

Personally I think alcohol is by far the worst. You can't smoke too many cigarettes and have your life end up in the gutter overnight because of it.

Alcohol you can overdose very easy. You can have life changing repercussions that affect the rest of your life from one night of going over the edge. In addition I have personally known weedaholics, alcoholics, and smokeaholics. The worst of the lot are the alcoholics, because they slowly seem to mentally and physically degenerate quicker than the other two. Perhaps my view is tainted since my father is a recovering alcoholic and I have seen first hand of how it can ruin families and throw people's lives in the gutter that otherwise may have had a promising future, and how it can change someone's life overnight when they have too much.

Don't get me wrong - alcohol is fine in moderation. I have had my days of partying and what-not. The key is set yourself a limit before you start. I almost never drink more than 3-4 beers in one night, typically when I drink I have a couple beers at most. I have maintained this for the past 10 years.

Alcohol by far. No real substantive proof that tobacco is a sole cause of sickness and/or death. Booze can kill anyone dead in an evening.

It can also lead to regretful fornication with the wrong person and/or unintentional preggers.

Having said that, smoking anything on a regular basis is worse for you then anything but the worst drinking problem, but pot or tobacco being worse is a tricky one because even people who smoke pot daily consume tiny amounts of it compared to what cigarette smokers use. I'd guess that if you compared equal amounts of pot & tobacco, pot would be a lot worse but that isn't realistic IMO.

that's not the alcohol that's good for you, but the other qualities you find in alcholoic beverages: yeast for b-vitamins, anti-oxidants in wine (how ironic), etc. alcohol, flat-out is no good.

Have you ever seen what it does to a cell? Granted, alcohol can be used in certain surgical treatments, such as frying stiff heart tissue. But again, the application is to kill the tissue that is already problematic...

I'm guessing the majority of those who voted tobacco believe the fabricated data concerning second-hand smoke? Btw, I don't smoke tobaccy, and I do drink...perhaps more than my share ;)

I'm only assuming that the usage for any of the drugs listed is in relative moderation. In that case, cigarettes are worst - but tobacco, IMO, is a separate beast and i'd put it on par with marijuana.

Worse

Cigarettes
Alcohol
Pot/Tobacco

Not as bad

Alcohol is by far the most immediately dangerous. For some people it's extremely addictive, and has nasty physical withdrawal symptoms. It's easy to OD (which can be fatal). It seems to have more direct negative effects on judgement and motor skills than THC.

Alcohol and tobacco both have serious long-term health effects if chronically abused. Even if you don't 'binge drink' every day, if you're drinking every day and getting trashed a couple times a week and you do that for 25+ years, your liver will be shot. Heavy tobacco smoking will adversely affect lung function over time (asthma, emphysema, etc.) and raises risks for lung and throat cancer considerably.

Marijuana smoking seems to have less impact on lung function -- but few people are 'pack a day' marijuana users, so it's likely just a question of volume. Long-term mental effects from THC have not been studied well, so that's sort of an unknown factor. It's fat-soluble and tends to build up in brain tissue over time if you use it regularly, but it's hard to predict what this might actually do over the course of decades of regular use, or if it might affect some people more than others.

Sums it up for me.

I don't know why you would assume that. The poll asks about the person consuming it mostly. If people were voting based on harm potentially done to others as a result of you ingesting, alcohol would win by an enormous landslide over tobacco.

So you're saying it could be as high as 13.46?
