i am so sick of this. there used to be a time in our history where medical information was personal, and the only time you would get tested is if you caused an injury accident that couldnt be explained by normal behavior.
i refuse to piss in a cup to go to work. i am not an indentured servant. if it means i have to live homeless, so be it. thankfully im not there yet, but i swear to god i will happily live in a cardboard box and die an early age so long as i can keep my personal body personal.
I hear refrigerator boxes are the best, you can set up camp near a KFC or a pizza joint. No, really I believe that the vast majority of jobs should not require testing, if your a pilot, bus driver, crane operator, ect. then yea, it makes sense. What people don't know about is workplace drug testing is a cash cow for Labcorp, Quest, to name a few, they take the sample, check for adulteration via a dip stick, then do a 3, 5, or 10 panel test (whatever the employer asks for), if it's negative (around 95% are) that's it. If it's positive it has to be verified with a second test with an MS/GS machine for confirmation, this is an expensive $350 test but since it has to be done on a small amount of the samples the cost is minimal because they usually charge the employer a flat $150 fee, the dip sticks are cheap, add in the cost of collection and transportation and their cost is around $30. With them making this kind of profit they put $$ in the right politicians pockets to see laws rarely get changed to interrupt the cash cow, think about big tobacco co's, same thing, it's been known since the early '60's that cig's are horrible health-wise but yet they are still readily available for sale, but wait! the Gov. imposes a "sin tax" on cig's so they get part of the action, really any responsible government would halved outlawed the sale of cig's decades ago but hey, re-election isn't cheap and if you lose your seat you have to go out and get a real job like the rest of us, $$$$$ dictates EVERYTHING that happens in the end..
