Marijuana and creativity. Does pot induce deep thinking?

Well it does change the way your brain works. If it didn't you wouldn't feel high. Changing the way your brain works could give rise to thoughts that wouldn't normally occur to you. That certainly doesn't mean that mj is going to turn a moron into a mystic guru, but to a certain extent I can see it.

As someone who used to smoke, at first occasionally, then all fucking day every day for several years, and now doesn't smoke at all, I can tell you...

It depends. Sometimes it did for me. I wrote pretty much every creative writing assignment I ever did in college high, and aced them all. I've also spent a lot of time thinking about things in different ways than I would have sober.

I think it takes a certain type of mind for this to happen, though. Some people just get fucking dumb when they get high. Others get more introspective.

If you make it a daily habit just to make your life more bearable, then not likely. Occasional use has drastically different effects than habitual use.

Hey man! What if we as a planet/solar system are just cells in like the finger nail of some giant. And what if there is a whole universe in the crap in our finger nail.

No less plausible than the ideas many base their whole lives around. :p

If pot smokers were creative and deep thinking, they'd probably have found a way to get the stuff legalized by now. Instead all they find time to do is eat Cheetos and bitch on the internet when some pot farm gets raided.

Virgins and talking snakes with blood on the doorway or turn to salt before the burning bush for 3 DAYS AND THEN ROSE INTO HEAVEN KILL THE INFIDELS FOR... Oh...

What was that about the solar system? Complete rubbish.

That's completely illogical, lol.

I wonder what percentage of the OWS people could afford to pay off their student loans if they weren't buying pot?

it's been proven that if you inhibit certain parts of the brain, other parts of the brain will become more active. This is how marihuana is able to improve creativity. I just read a recent study about this (the effect, not specific to marihuana) but I can't recall the details.

I don't think I was any more creative but I was fairly productive when I was smoking. I smoked during most of my 20's, while graduating from university, getting a good paying job, getting married.
Likewise, except I'm still 25 :p I've given it up for a while because it was making me anti social.

More creative, yes. BETTER, not usually.

Edit: you want maximum creativity, go for the hallucinogens

Just please do a little research so you know what the hell you're ingesting. So many people will take any drug someone hands them...

wtf linking to an entire Simpsons episode... haha.

I'm not a big fan of the show and I don't think I'm going to watch it, but I assume your point is that pot smokers keep forgetting to go vote or just don't, or whatever.

My point though being that creativity and productivity/punctuality are completely separate things...

Ya, and on some obscure Russian site at that. Fox is crazy about nuking any attempt to put up Simpsons clips anywhere though, so take my word for it that stoned Homer says that to his new stoned friends after they miss the legalization vote.
