That is dangerous thin for a fourty seven year old.

Is that supposed to be sarcasm?

Though she certainly has lost weight from before:

It was a ploy because her popularity has shot up. The wife is playing all maria Carey now and I just heard her say "I didn't know nee-yo made a song with her" so its working.

I hope this happens to every 'artist' who chooses to lip sync a live performance.
That's going to be virtually everyone who does an outdoor performance. Pulling off a studio-quality performance outside in the cold like that just isn't practical. Plus with a busted earpiece, even if she wasn't lip syncing, she still would have been sunk since she wouldn't have been able to hear the click-track.

Dunno why it has to be a studio quality performance, unless the "artist" requires studio tricks to sound decent in the first place. Sometimes it sucks, sometimes it's trancendental. Usually, it's somewhere in the middle. That's how it goes with live music..

I'll give credit where it's due.. she handled it much better than Ashley Simpson (I think that's the girl's name) when she bombed it on SNL.

Well Mariah Careys non-performance was watched by millions compared to Ashlee Simpsons just by the few SNL viewers.

She still could have walked off stage, thrown a fit, or whatever. Instead she turned right into it, and did the best she could do in that situation. It was still a train wreak, but I'll give her credit for sticking with it.

The problem was not Carey's. The part about blaming her lip syncing appears wrong. Her mike was live and she sang her opening without syncing and then some lines in the second but stopped . It seemed to me her ear piece was a problem. If so that meant she could not hear the music track and could not sing to music she could not hear.
Her representative said:

Their response comes after Carey's team spoke to Billboard magazine and claimed that Carey, who had attended a rehearsal earlier in the day, had alerted Dick Clark Productions that her ear piece was not working. Carey's publicist, Nicole Perna, said that her client "was not winging this moment and took it very seriously" and added, "A shame that production set her up to fail."

I don't know--only watched the video once, but didn't Mariah say something like: "We didn't soundcheck y'all, but let's go anyway!" after it had clearly failed? At least, she mentioned something about the soundcheck, so maybe that comment is accurate. Fucked up if true!
