There's no excuse for what the did on the field. That alone should have resulted in a multi-game suspension. However, since he'd already had chronic off the field problems -- as well as the incident of flipping the bird earlier this year -- there's really only one way to punish him. The expulsion is fine, and I'm glad they did it.

The bigger question, however, is why Va. Tech continues to have problems with their players. It wasn't just Vick that the refs and Louisville were steamed about after the game. It is very rare to see an official speak publicly about a whole team, but one of the refs BLASTED the entire Va. Tech team for their first half behavior. This is not an isolated incident. Va. Tech has ALWAYS had a lot of personal fouls called on them, and Beamer needs to clean up the program and instill some discipline, or VT needs to fire him.

um, wrong, did you see the game? yes vick was a dick. the personal fouls they had during the first half were worthless. everything they did was getting called as a PF, it was bs, the refs plain sucked. i've followed Tech very closely since 99 and your statement is just a lie.

u monkeys swear, it says VICK on the back of his jersey not jesus, when did he do something that made you guys think he was more than a man? dude he's a person he can do what the hell ever he likes. Football is played by a bunch of savages and to be honest i have seen far worst, its just part of the game, if the ref's didnt throw him out then oh well next play.

AND DONT TELL ME ITS NOT PART OF THE GAME I HAVE BEEN A SPORTS OFFICAL FOR 8 YEARS I HAVE SEEN IT ALL, MOST OF THE MONKEYS ON HERE ONLY WATCHED FOOTBALL FROM TV, AND THAT DOESNT SHOW NEARLY 1/200TH OF WHAT REALLY GOES ON.

They played dirty vs. Auburn in the Sugar last year as well. I was there...

wow you need to relax.

he deserves everything he gets. the reason the ref did not throw him out is they did not see it.

He's obviously a dumb ass who's getting what he deserves. Hopefully he's smart enough to read the writing on the wall or he will either end up in prison or dead.

Or playing in Canada or Europe.

He's a dickweed, and a wuss. And not a lot of the black folks like him in Blacksburg, one time he came to a party that my friend's friend organized and he acted like sh!t and got his ass kicked by several other black dudes, then left with his asskissers.

Yeah like you have any credibilty:roll:

We can argue all night about whether VT plays clean or dirty. But Beamer never says anything when his players mess up. If anyone calls them out, it's always an assistant coach, athletic staff, president...basically anyone but the head coach! That tells you all you need to know about his program.

Wow, as soon as a black quarterback becomes successful, they try to get rid of him

They're pulling the same crap with McNabb in the NFL. Michael Vick has been criticized his whole career even though he proves them wrong every season.

All you Vick bashers, please realize that it's just a game.

This isn't about Marcus Vick being successful. It is about his on the field and off the field transgressions like the deal with the underage girls, flipping the fans the finger, getting caught with pot, and stomping on the back of another player's knee.

As for Mike Vick, Atlanta fans are frustrated because he simply hasn't progressed much as a passer in the last few seasons and is still turnover prone. Throw in the fact that Atlanta went from going to the NFC Championship game this season to finishing the second half of this season at 2-6 and missing the playoffs, yeah...he and the rest of the Falcons are going to catch some grief.

I don't see anybody trying to get rid of Vince Young btw.

well much more than you do considering i lived there for 4 years. i am not bragging about anything. i don't know him, i didn't talk to him, i didn't get into a fight with him, i am just saying what i've heard.

University President Charles Steger Statement on Marcus Vick

January 6, 2006

Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick has been permanently dismissed from the Hokie football program due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play.

Virginia Tech had suspended Vick in 2004. The university provided one last opportunity for Vick to become a citizen of the university and re-admitted him in January 2005, with the proviso that any future problems would result in automatic dismissal from the team

Would it have been "just a game" if that knee stomp tore ligaments in the defenders knee, costing him millions of dollars?

Oh God.

Do you have any idea of Vick's history at VT, or are you just talking out of your arse?

And I guess you believe that High-Lows, Spearing, and Cowboy Collaring should all be legalized in football?

:Q It has nothing to with a "black quarterback being successful" and everything to do with a human being acting completely inappropriately. I hope you were just trying to bait AT'ers into an argument, and you were not seriously implying that this was racially motivated.

If you know about imtim83 here, he is probably one of the most inane, illogical, paranoid posters on the board.

Yes I am familiar with Marcus Vick's history, and it's all meaningless. I've heard of players getting one game suspensions for far worse. They already forced him to skip a whole season. His only punishment should be time served, IMHO

Time served? He SHOULD be in jail right now, for endangering the welfare of a child, possession, serving alcohol to minors, and a myriad of other charges. The fact that he isn't, and the fact that VT even gave him another chance is thanks to the school.
