Leiden classical is hard on CPU - you need efficient cooling or you need to slow down (use 90% of the CPU-time ...). It is hard on older quads and older dual core CPUs.

I have repaired the FX60, and it is running cooler. It has been running Leiden classical for over 50 minutes with no problems whatsoever.

I continue to have problems with XP x64. I'm actually wondering if the antivirus software is interfering with the OS. (I know you linux guys are laughing at me.) I see no reason to install XP x64 on the quad until I get this worked out.

Yesterday I tried to install ATI Multimedia Control Console on the XP x64 os on one of my FX 60 machines. It didn't work right, and ~0630 today I tried to uninstall it. Now it is almost 4 hours later, and the uninstall has not completed. Prior to the uninstall I disabled the antivirus, and I exited the anti-spyware. The cpu is running ~58%; (task) regsvr32.exe *32 in using about 50% of the cpu cycles. My inclination is to let it run to completion, but why is it taking so long?

I've been able to locate this information, but it doesn't tell me much. If there's anyone out there who has experience with this, I would appreciate some feedback. -thanks

ok ... it has been over 5 hours now. I know it's doing something. I've been watching the Performance Graph in Task Manager, and there is no set pattern - it continues to change - so I'm thinking that it's not stuck in a loop - but what is it doing?

I mean -- I can't use the machine till the process is complete!

Whaaaazzuuuuuuuuuuuuugh!

rabrittan, Can you just do a system rollback to before you installed the ATI Multimedia Control Console? If so, I would end task and just rollback the system.

Now -- that's a good idea - I'll try it! OK -- I can't go back as far as Software Distribution Service 3.0 on 3/2/2010 - However, there is a point on 3/4 that is before I installed the ATI Multimedia Console that I believe that I can use.

System Restore is not something that I like to do a lot of - so I did not gravitate toward it, but this time, waffleironhead, it seems like a good idea.

OK, cross your fingers folks ... nope, it wouldn't do it.

I'll have to return to this later; I'm still working on swapping out the timing belt, water pump, and crankshaft seal on my ex's car. This is day 3, and she wants it back!!

...later
