I feel like all congress is doing is taking our broken system and forcing everyone onto it.

Exactly what happening. Plus going to drive costs through roof on all premiums as health insurance cos adjust to new business model of insuring every chronic person no matter what forever.

can someone explain to me how premiums are going to get lowered?

ending the pre-existing conditions BS is great, but won't the costs just get passed on to the consumers, thus raising my premiums even more?

my premium rose so much just from last year to this year that my annual raise didn't even fully compensate for it (my monthly take-home went down despite my raise)

Senate vote in 1965 on Medicare:

Yeas:
D's - 57
R's - 13

Edit: That should be 13 Yeas ---- and 17 Nays for the R's.

So I guess I'm calling that Rep a liar.

As Dan Rather said last night on Rachel Maddow, the Republicans then had liberal, moderate and conservative factions. SO the conservative faction was still likely 100% no.

Study Massachusetts since enacting a similar bill. Up around ~250%, in other-words they will climb huge. Worst yet is business will find ways to not have employees in the legal sense making gov't pick up the tab instead.

One question: did Democrats help insurance companies because they are bastards who want to hurt the country, or because the political power of the insurance companies is too strong?

I'd say the more reasonable answer is the latter. So is the problem with that more the Democrats (and Republicans who first pushed it), or the insurance companies being too strong?
Insurance companies can't hold a gun to congress' collective heads and force them to do what they want, whereas congress can do that to insurance companies. If the insurance companies are too strong, then why did congress just throw them the biggest bone of all time instead of doing something to weaken them?

They are not going to go down.
They go up for everyone including Republicans, that is the point.

we're already seeing a swing in conservative election victories at the state level prior to this vote with polls showing a majority against. could be a record for incumbent upsets for a non-presidential vote cycle is this ship is continued to be driven against the wind.

and pelosi, oh the lulz at that walking windbag; and good job on the declaration.

One thing I notice in all this congress debate... is... while congress republicans cry against healthcare for more Americans, I have yet to hear EVEN ONCE, just one...ANY... of the congress republicans decry THEIR OWN provided healthcare that THEY enjoy so much as a member of congress. Do the check yourself... Google youtube... Google video archives... google fox news.... NOT ONE !!!!! Republicans have not said "as a start, I will forfeit my own congress supplied healthcare for this cause to save money". NOT ONE... Not even one!!!
