anyone see this guy on 60minutes? he's psychologist turned entertainer where he reads people's minds/thoughts.

some stuff he did seemed more like magic tricks. he made a watch go faster, stopped his pulse, read a serial number off dollar bill blind folded.

but he also did interesting thing where he read people's thoughts. he guessed what letter they're thinking of, knew whether people were lying or not.

is this guy for real? i'm doubtful but the thing that was convincing was they pointed out he was hired to train police officers to detect lies and to help lawyers screen jurors.

How do you mean "for real"? Not having seen the show, I can only say he seems to be able to read people well, but no one can read minds.

he presents his stage act as being achieveable by reading people's physiological signs to tell what's on their mind (lying, or what letter they are thinking of). when i ask if he's real, i'm wondering if someone really can be that good at reading your body, or if he's just david blaine with a new spin (there's some alternative simple explanation for things he does). can someone explain away the stuff he did?

That's pretty much what most "psychics" do. They can tell when something is near to a hit so they continue. The guy was a psychologist after all.

there are more tricks to what psychics do than just reading people. they will have pick-pockets who will steal your wallet before a psychic session, use the info, then plant the wallet back on the person as they leave. they will orchestrate fake events to happen before the session or after the session (same day or later that week) to prove their psychic powers and get returning customers.

when david blaine was doing mind reading on tv, he guessed wrong a lot of times but they simply didn't show those takes on tv.

as for marc salem i tend to equate him as david blaine with a new spin, but as i said, he may be more legit. i'm wondering if anyone knows more about this guy or the tricks he uses
